top:
Abraham Lincoln - because he came from a poor background, and even though he didn't have it easy he made himself the greatest politician this country has ever known. I don't have that much to say about any other politicians. He is really the only president that I greatly respect.
And although he wasn't a president I like Samuel Adams a lot.

worst:
Andrew Johnson - because he was an illiterate racist who was empeached for his own political stupidity. His treatment of Native Americans stands out as particularly vile.

Ronald Reagan - for beginning the wildly unsuccessful "war on drugs", and his admin's many "secret wars"

Theodor Roosevelt - for his love of imperialism, which he excercised in the Phillipines which though lesser known than the Spanish-American war, was far more costly in lives. It was a brutal assault on innocent Phillipinos.

Woodrow Wilson - for his involvement in WW1, his mandates which imprisoned dissenters, and because he produced pro-war propaganda despite the public's will for neutrality.

Booker T. Washington as the first black to have dinner in the White House and spoke out against racism constantl and opposed school segregation, having gotten rid of it in NY
appointed the first Jew, Oscar S. Straus, to the Presidential Cabinet.
Open Door Policy in China
Brilliant peace betwene Japan and Russia
Brilliantly maneuvered peace and stability between Russia and USA
Responsibility for obtaing the Panama Canal
Responsible for the eventual cretaion of the Federal Reserve
the Great White Fleet

He was titan among men

FDR "started" the "War on Drugs"...

Let's try to keep our History straight, please.

My Top 3 would be...

Lincoln
Washington
Reagan

The worst President, in my mind...

James Buchanan

Gaar

Yes, he is my second favorite person of that type... George Killian, though an Irishman, tops my list.

They were all bad. My favorite was that guy who was in office for like a month, then died. That's what all presidents should do.

Default Best - Worst

The best:
Roosevelt - Programs to care for those in need
Lincoln - Understood the word "freedom"
Clinton - Cared about Americans - culturally competent and like
President Carter - continued the effort to maintain the PEACE

The worst:
Johnson - escallating a "no" win situation in Vietnam and creating an
atmosphere that eventually caused excessive hardship to
American soldiers (army, airforce, marines, navy, etc)
Reagan - Interest rates were over 21% - S&L failures and covering up
for those in his cabinet who had involvement in the S&L
failures
Current President Bush - failure to perform - allowing the escalation of
a war in the Middle East - not LISTENING - creating FEAR
versus finding a road to PEACE - and above all allowing for
"radical" religion to play a part in the current Administration
