They may have at one time, but if the past decade and a half has been any indication, they've been long gone. I'm just amazed at how much the current administration is doing things that are so contrary to what conservaties have long claimed to stand for. The horrific increase in domestic spying and the Dept. of Homeland Security (can you say Police State?) being given a free pass to do whatever they want with impunity, that thankfully aborted deal of selling some of our ports to a company run by a state that KNOWINGLY supported terrorist activity, numerous displays of stupidity and incompetence and hate to say it, a president who really has struck me as totally intellectually vacuous (it would be even funnier if it wasn;t so tragic). This is NOT what the Founding Fathers had in mind.

I read an article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution in November '06 just after the elections written by none other than Newt Gingrich, illustrating why the Republicans did so poorly, Oddly enough, he was quick to admit that the vast majority of it was self-inflicted, the result of complacency, laziness, incompetence, corruption, hunger for power and other stupidities. Admitting it is one thing, but addressing and dealing with it is quite another.

And some people wonder why I lean more towards the Libertarian party anymore, The Republicans have become a joke, completely irrelavant and just plain WEAK!
