Default the never-ending fight

Republican vs Democrat. This is one of todays biggest issues in America, if not THEE biggest issue. People are going to fight no matter what, whether it be the general population fighting over politics or a small family fighting over who gets the last slice of pizza. Its not the question of whos right or wrong that makes me mad, its how can people be so ignorant as to completely ignore the other persons perspective. Did we forget that everyone thinks differently in some manner?

Im just saying take the time to find out why someone thinks what they do before arguing with them about it for hours.

I understand liberals thoroughly. I understand what makes them tick. I can predict what they'll say on any issue.

That's true. And it happens all the time. I think you'll find that the reasonable posters on this site (for example) will argue properly - you know, with premises and then evidence to back up their premises, and that they will address the issues at hand and not get personal and facetious in place of an actual argument.

There are those, of course, who won't. Who'll pretty much say and do anything just to push your buttons. And a lot of the time it's those people who just don't have actual arguments to fall back on - and they are the ones who I'd guess that you find it frustrating to argue/debate with, or even just talk to.

My best friend and I have diametrically opposed political and religious ideologies. She is quite conservative, right-wing, and was raised in a very Christian household (although she’s not independently religious as an adult) and I am more central left, raised in a politically active social democrat family, with no religious influence.

Our solution? There are two things we don’t talk about – politics and religion. But we have a lot of respect for each other, obviously we love each other very much, as we’ve been best friends for 13 years, and we can rise above our political differences – there’s a lot more to life (although it’s easy to forget that sometimes)

Sometimes you have to sift through the mud for the gold to shine through. But when you do, it's usually worth the effort you put into it.

Translation: I understand everything. I know this because I can rationalize whatever to fit within my structure of preconceived notions. The actions of people with thought patterns truly alien from my own are no exception.
To illustrate this I continuously say things which I know irritate the liberals and just as I guess they always get irritated. Therefore I know the exact process... Never mind that when it comes to making up motivations for the reactions I rely completely on my own imagination and ignore anything that can actually be considered evidence... such as say, the reasons those people with alien thought give. After all I know them better than they know themselves. I know everything.
Those (*)(*)(*)(*) liberal elitists. I also hate satire. I don't get it. But that's okay. I know it is done just because they're jealous.

Java, those thought patterns you pointed out all fits in with what the Highpriest of Neocontology had to say:

Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns - the ones we don't know we don't know. ...I believe what I said yesterday. I don't know what I said, but I know what I think... and I assume it's what I said. --Saint Von Rumsfeld the Nonsensical

No, it is not. Those are only proxies. The real issue is conservative vs liberal.

Both parties have been both conservative and liberal in their history.

How do you know that they simply dont agree? Why do you assume it is ignorance?

If you exercise self control, they cant push your buttons.

So dont debate or talk with them.

I dont see the point in complaining about it when you have total control over it.

I posted a thread on this that I keep getting mixed up with this one.
It is not the disagreement that is being complained about. It is the complete lack of understanding and lack of wanting to understand between the groups. And that is a real phenomenon. I'd have to imagine you've seen it many times over being a regular on this forum.
It is one thing to disagree. It is another to make up the reasons why others disagree with you yourself from inside your own head. The problem is that most of the major "demonization" of opposing sides comes from this.
