A good rule I suppose for exceptions is to allow them for items of national security... After all this is what isolationists do for war... On the other hand that's also what neo-cons say about everything.
Oh well. Exceptions need to be made occasionally, even if we can't all agree on what actually bolsters national security.

I'm going to register as an Independent, but if I had to register with a political party, it would be with the LP. Call me back if the Republican Party actually becomes conservative again. Right now I consider it a military socialist party (with a few exceptions like Ron Paul and Chuck Hagel).

I most certainly agree. If by "authoritarian" you mean that I have an authoritarian personality, you are correct. Then again (and this is an observation, not a personal attack), so do you. My policies would be quite permissive, however.

I consider paleoconservatism to be true conservatism, so I'll let the GOP leave a message. I'm not a paleocon, but I much prefer paleoconservatives to neoconservatives or socialistic Democrats. The only reason I don't like being called a liberal, by the way, is that Democrats are seen as liberals. While I agree with the Democratic Freedom Caucus on just about everything but abortion, most Democratic politicians stand not only for legal abortion, but also for multilateral (as opposed to unilateral) hawkishness, violating the 2nd Amendment and increasing domestic spending, all of which I vehemently oppose. If mainstream Democrats aren't "true" liberals, then I have no problem with the "l word".

Default Look Out, Here Comes the Master Race...

I would complain about your personal attack, Bove, but in spite of myself I find it quite amusing (though not for the same reasons you do, no doubt). Do I sense Righty's presence? The neocon agenda: Join us (with no thought crime) or be mutilated. I'm overwhelmed by the freedom!

Everything I have seen from you on this forum screams "authoritarian". Your solution to anything you dont like is to make it illegal.

Guess it must suck for the Paleocons that we are in power.

Your cartoonishly feminist views are the main reason I consider you a liberal. But most of your other core values (except for abortion) are liberal as well IMO.

The Democrat party is currently ruled by liberals, in the same way that the Republican party is currently ruled by Neocons.

Most of your core values are shared by Democrat liberals IMO.

It was, but it isn't any more. I wouldn't even ban pornography.

I long ago came to view radical feminism as hypocritical and needlessly divisive. I'm against affirmative action for anyone and I oppose censorship of hate speech- even of things as demented as rape "jokes", for example.

In the sense that John Locke, Voltaire and Adam Smith were liberal, I agree. In the sense that Ted Kennedy is liberal, I strongly disagree.
