Just days after Imus gets fired. Two NYC radio personalities prank call a chinese restaurant and play to several chinese stereotypes.
Something is seriously wrong with our society if Imus gets fired for making a racial joke and these guys don't Quote:

But there is no huge lobby organization to stand up for the Chinese. Don't expect Al Sharpton to do it. Or Jesse Jackson. Certainly not the NAACP or the Jewish Anti-Defamation League or the Muslim Anti-Defamation League. No, I'm afraid not even the homosexual anti-defamation groups will stand up for them. Sorry, Chinese, you're on your own.

Even though it was a local, non-syndicated show, this will prove a double-standard definately exists if these guys dont get fired. Maybe Sharpton and Jackson should get involved, even though they represent an entirely different group--racism is racism. By them not getting involved is them saying that some forms of racism are fine, so long as those forms arent anti-black.
Local asian-american and chinese american advocacy groups ARE getting involved, and it has been getting a lot of publicity for a local radio station.

The fact that it is local might give the big national groups a little bit of an excuse for not getting involved in this particular thing. They don't see everything.
Stuff like this happens all over the place. Frankly I feel Imus was quite tame compared to stuff I've heard on local radio talk. I guess another sad thing is just about our society in general. Why has our humor degenerated into basically being as nasty as possible to different groups of people... Is this some psycho-reaction to PC or are people just being raised meaner? I really don't see what's so (*)(*)(*)(*) funny about any of this crap or why it is so popular. It's not a very intelligent type of humor (quite the opposite actually) but boy does it sell... Perhaps it's not PC or meanness. Maybe people are just dumb.

What part of "shock jock" is unclear?
Fire them, don't fire them; either is fine. They're juvenile pigs either way. I'd like to see them fired because it would be evidence that there are some levels we won't sink to as paid broadcasters. But I'm not going to demand it.

The first time I heard the "flied lice" gag was on Saturday Night Live many years ago. It was funny. Then Uncle Benny said this in Lethal Weapon 4 "Flied lice? It's fried rice, you plick." Calling for firing is just ridiculous. Rosie O'Donnell made fun of Asians and kept her job. Sheesh.
