Don't know about the US but in Britain we used Zeiss Jena (made in East Germany) equipment (stero comparators) to measure up Spy satellite imagery because it was the best in the world. which reminds me there was also the silent Submarine built in Vladivostok and the Mig interceptor (termed Backfire in the west) that could intercept the US spy planes quicker than any US fighters of the time. |
