Default Russian technologies

1. Space flights. On April, 12th 1961 Jury Gagarin on a spacecraft of the Russian engineer Korolev became the first person departed in space. And now Russia is the leader in space technologies. If you are going to fly in space more cheaply and more reliably to fly on Russian spacecraft "SOUZ-2", than on a space shuttle. By the way on "SOUZ-2" there are tickets …

2. TV. The idea of transfer of the image (TV) has been offered and patented by Russian scientist Boris Rozing on July, 25th 1907. The idea of the TV set (CRT) has been offered by Russian engineer Zvorykin in the USA (the application 683337 from December, 29th 1923 on the patent in the USA), but the application for the similar device Russian engineer Kataev earlier has submitted to the USSR (the application from September, 24th 1931)

3. Electric Lamp. In 1872 the Russian engineer Lodygin has made an application on the patent ¹ 1619, from July, 11th 1874 on an electric lamp. In 1876 at the Parisian exhibition the Russian engineer Jablochkov receives the first-ever patent for the invention of an electric lamp without a regulator. Thomas Edison in 1880 only has replaced in lamp of Lodygin a coal string on tungstic.

4. Radio. The idea belongs to the Russian engineer Popovu, the first the patent has received Marconi in UK. Priests has published the description of the device in 1895, Marconi has taken the patent only on June, 2nd, 1896

5. A hydrogen bomb. On August, 12th, 1953 on range in Semipalatinsk the first-ever hydrogen bomb has been tested. (yes-yes. I was not mistaken. The USA have blown up the hydrogen device earlier, but this device could not be shipped aboard the plane).

7. Kalashnikov's automatic device. The most mass and the popular weapon in the world. Kalashnikov's automatic device has rendered greater influence on a course of world history, than a nuclear bomb. Kalashnikov's automatic device the only thing in the world the automatic weapon represented on a flag the countries (Mozambique).

8. Armor T-34. " If Russian have not invented T-34 all Europe would speak in German ". One of the main elements of tank T-34 was transmission of American engineer Christie which has been rejected by the Ministry of Defence of the USA, but the combination of reliability, capacities of arms, mass character and has made cheapnesss of manufacture by its best armor of WWII.

Default Lasers.

Robotniks.

Lasers. which was a collaboration of many nations. Einstein (German), Fabrikant (USSR), Lamb (US), Kastler (French).

Then there was also the Gulag system which now the US is using.

Default May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't.

Sky blue eye shadow
The ZaZ automobile
The shotgun makeup applicator
Grey clothes
Gruel
Three hour long lines for toilet paper rations

A few that come to mind.

By the mid-19th century unique had developed a wider meaning, “not typical, unusual,” and it is in this wider sense that it is compared. The comparison of so-called absolutes in senses that are not absolute is standard in all varieties of speech and writing.

Funny but didn't the Mayans have a maize gruel before the USSR was around?

Or how about the absurdity of queueing for Petrol in an oil rich nation.

Quote:
Hasanain Akram, 34, a doctor who was waiting in a petrol queue, said: "I expect that the new plan will make things even worse because both the Kurdish and the Shia troops from the south will only serve their sects and their people. I think if the Americans want to solve the problems in Iraq they should change the Iraqi government because it's causing the main problems in the country. I'm very pessimistic as everything is bad in this country and there is lack of basic life needs: no electricity, no petrol, not water.

I thought the US was teaching the Iraqis to be democratic and not how to be like the Russians?

Don't know about the US but in Britain we used Zeiss Jena (made in East Germany) equipment (stero comparators) to measure up Spy satellite imagery because it was the best in the world.

which reminds me there was also the silent Submarine built in Vladivostok and the Mig interceptor (termed Backfire in the west) that could intercept the US spy planes quicker than any US fighters of the time.

Default Wait, wait! This can't be true...

Why only the other day I was informed on this very site that only "democracies" can produce innovative technologies.

Apparently it is still true. What was the last innovative technology a non-democracy produced? Anything in my lifetime?

Can't say without knowing your age. I'm guessing 12.
