The teenage population of countries all around the world have generally been overlooked when it comes to political opinions, with the stereotype that teens aren't mature or wise enough to have an opinion on matters that adults do. I disagree with this stereotype, being a teen, and in fact have decided that I would to get involved with a political party when I'm old enough to do so. I believe that everyone has the right to state their opinion, and in fact, I would really enjoy it if many of you were to read up on my opinion on some different issues on my blog:
http://fourfiftyone.blogspot.com Yes, this is probably shameless advertising, but I would like to hear how others feel on my opinion, it would be greatly appreciated. Maybe even bookmark the site, and come back every once in a while and read my new posts. I'll try to update it as much as possible. Oh, and feel free to click the links on the side so I can make a little bit of money so I can afford a domain name. [/even more shamless advertising] Hope you enjoy it. Thanks Brian McLean |

Sorry, that IS shameless advertising.
After you've piped up on this forum for a while, perhaps people will start clicking. Getting back to the focus of this thread... Unfortunately, you're right. When people think of "teens," they think of the empty crap that teens (statistically) watch on MTV. They think of the absolute infatuation with Paris "Ho"-ton. They think of the failing schools, across the country, where those teens come from. Of course, this is a generalization, and by no means meant to include 100% of the teen populace. If you have opinions, post them...often. Don't let some of these people here discourage you. |

Brian if you are an older person trying to post as a teen then indeed that is shameful advertising. But if you are for real at 16 and wrote what all you wrote then you are amazing. You already can out-think George Bush and like your fresh ideas and the consideration you have for everything. If I see you running for some office then you have my vote.

I resent the whole "experience=wisdom" theory that elders use on young peoples. It is fact that children are smarter than adults and have more mental capabilities than most adults do. Adolescence tends to transform people.(lol.) But i do wonder....If teens gain wisdom(and thus "experience") through the experiences of others without having gone through it themselves. Does that perhaps qualify?

while you must wait until you are 18 to vote, don't think there is any age prohibition preventing you from participating in political activities. a great time to learn the underlying functions and actions of political organizations.
keep thinking for yourself and being honest with yourself. i look forward to your posts. [you get extra points for playing a strat ... if you own a tube amp, even better.] in contrast bluecollar pontificates: Quote:
until then i think of two old sayings: there are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are NO old, bold pilots. and a young man who is a conservative has no heart. an old man who is a liberal has no head. |

I'll admit that I don''t have as much experience as most adults, but I don't think that's a restriction that is prevelent in educated debate.

It is time for kids to start having interest in how the world is run and this will be a good learning experience for the boy. I am proud and happy to see a young'un interested in something that most of us didn't care about until we were over thirty. Don't let the trolls deter you Brian and again welcome aboard and hope you enjoy it.
