When Bush appointed Robert Zoellick as the new head of the World Bank, many were surprised. Zoellick’s career hasn’t been that of a great philanthropist, nor has he shown any remarkable banking talent or even outstanding services to humanity. In many cases he has shown himself to be a very biased, racist and undiplomatic individual.
One more interesting fact is that this not particularly suitable candidate, will be the third Jewish president of the World Bank in a row. Paul Wolfowitz, his equally controversial predecessor and his predecessor Wolfensohn were both Jewish. There’s nothing inherently wrong with a Jewish president of the World Bank. Wolfnsohn, made some (*)(*)(*)(*) big mistakes, but his appointment wasn’t a great mystery to me, he had the right skills. But Wolfowitz and Zoellick are clearly planted there to take care of the Jewish shylock business which has found a host in the World Bank. By the way, in case you were wondering, the chances of three Jewish presidents in a row would be 1/400*1/400*1/400 = 0.00000001%. That’s less than the chance that you will be struck by lightening. What justifies Wolfowitz’s and Zoellick’s cushy job? |

Do you just make this stuff up as you go along?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Zoellick Zoellick has been a Deputy Secretary of State, a U.S. trade representative and head of international investment for an investment bank. Those are what make him qualified to head a *bank* that lends money to poor nations. He understands banking, investing, economics and has the international credentials as well. He was also known for his adamant opposition to the genocide in Darfur and concern for human rights. Wolfowitz's appointment was a travesty, agreed. Zoellick is a far more reasonable choice.

This thing is really getting out of hand. I mean, is the presidency of the world bank a strictly kosher event or what? And it’s not like the previous kosher president did a good job, he was a corrupt crook for crying out loud.

It's not Wolfowitz's past criminal behavior which makes me suspicious, it's the fact that, as Bart correctly notes, the chances of three Jews in a row is so so marginal that I find it hard to ignore it or accept it as a mere coincidence.

You know this remined me of the Gonzales situation!! One of fall outs from that debacle is that we have soooo many qualified and experienced attroneys out there ...yet we're stuck with these administration appointees ...just because of right wing ideology!! That woman who left ..Amy Goodman ...came from Pat Robertson's school which is no where near the standard of many ivy league schools. But worse ..she was placed in a senior position to literally controll the careers of many whom are more qualified and more experience!! |
