Mohammad actually spelled out that a certain percentage of booty taken from you infidels should be given to Mohammad (Qu'ran 8:41.) He approved of the taking of wealth from non-believers.
The following, from Al-Qaeda's famous 1998 Fatwa against civilized society clearly shows that jihadists also believe that our wealth is theirs for the taking: "Allah knows that there blood is permitted (to be spilled) and their wealth is a booty; their wealth is a booty to those who kill them. The most Exalted said in the verse of As-Sayef, The Sword: {so when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters where ever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush} (At-Tauba; 9:5)." Is converting Muslims out of Islam the only LONG-term solution to the GWOT, and to the horrific Islamic suppression of women, and to torture/killing of gays (in 13+ Islamic lands)? Your solutions? |

Good post BoogiePeople (BoogiePerson?
I've tried to get many Muslims to renounce 9:29, which mentions to force this unequal tax on us lowly non-believers, once they defeat us in battle, but none will! Amazingly, they try to actually defend 9:29, even though 9:29 implies to go down a path similar to Apartheid (w/non-believers being subjugated.) Will any Muslim dare face the truth that Mohammad (in 9:29) was a zealous Islamic supremacist, and renounce this horrific verse...or will they try to white-wash it? The world is waking up. Your thoughts, folks? |

My personal opinion is that in any religion there will inevitably be pockets of individuals who are brainwashed from childhood, who are strict constructionists of their sacred scriptures, who are disillusioned by the politics of the day, and who insist on employing fanatical methods so as to achieve whatever grand mission they fixate on. These properties/conditions are not unique to Islam, which is why you cannot start ripping out pages from the Qur'an.
That said, in the case of Islam and that part of the world, it is quite obvious that the problem is far deeper than anywhere else. In order to minimize the humanitarian wrongdoing which has come about (i.e. gender inequality, financial subjugation of infidels, minority suppression), community-level initiatives need to be taken. Eventually, the domination of religious doctrine and strict constructionism will seep out of the mainstream with the help of external entities and internal dissent. Here are some initiatives which should be converted from theory into practice in places like Iraq and Saudi Arabia......They all essentially revolve around the younger generation of Muslims, and are localized in the areas of education and family. * Have children engage in interfaith dialogue * Promote multiculturalism and tolerance of non-Muslims in schools * Destroy misinformation/stereotype by instituting classes highlighting the actual differences and similarities between Christianity, Judaism and Islam (the Middle Eastern, Abrahamic religions). * Downplay the importance of Islamic Paradises, Islamic hegemony, Islamic anything, and enhance the importance of humanist thinking and realist decision-making * Promote art/culture, so that children grow up as Renaissance Men rather than suicide bombers. * Have the internet and other globalized forums accessible to kids. A lot of these things supposedly violate the teachings of the Qur'an. However, I guarantee you that there are also incompatibilities between these points and those prescribed by the Bible and the Torah. The key to success is secularization, loose constructionism, and opening up traditional boundaries. |
