HILLARY'S HEALTH CARE NIGHTMARE
In her second try at wholesale health care reform, Sen. Hillary Clinton says she's learned from her past mistakes. But for all the makeovers and political camouflage, the elements of an expanding government regulatory nightmare are all here, says Donald Lambro, chief political correspondent for the Washington Times. For example: Rest of article here: http://www.ncpa.org/sub/dpd/index.php?Article_ID=15047 The Dark Side of Hillary Clinton's Health Care Plan By Dick Morris and Eileen McGann The public face of Hillary Clinton's new health care plan is sunny, filled with choices for consumers and bright with promises for better health care for all. But a close examination of the proposal alongside other initiatives of Sen. Clinton in the past few years reveals a dark side she wants to hide from public view until after the election is over. Hillary Rodham Clinton's universal health care plan will cost more than she says and effectively put the federal government in charge of administering private medical insurance, top think tank analysts said yesterday. Mrs. Clinton's proposed health care reforms were estimated by her presidential campaign to cost $110 billion a year. But fiscal analysts are doubtful, noting that previous government cost estimates have been notoriously low in the past and that her proposal will likely be significantly higher. Rest of article here Hillary's health care plan would make current system worse By Rich Lowry When it comes to health care, Hillary Clinton is never going to let her name be associated with the words ''radical overhaul'' ever again. Or, if she can help it, with massive bureaucracy or new taxes. That's what happened in 1993 with her health-care plan as first lady, and, as she never tires of saying, she has ''the scars to prove it.'' HillaryCare 2.0 is an entirely different enterprise, or so she would have us believe. It's the ''American Health Choices Plan.'' It ''builds on the current system to give businesses and their employees greater choice of health plans,'' while imposing ''no overall increase in health spending or taxes.'' It's the all-things-to-all-people, sweetness-and-light, all-benefits-and-no-costs health-care plan of 2007. It's also a sign of how she has wised up since her famous debacle early in her husband's first term. For a liberal seeking to expand government-run health care, it's not necessary to create new, elaborate governmental mechanisms that are vulnerable to parody and frightening to voters. Simply building on the status quo is enough to hasten us toward national health insurance. Rest of article here: http://www.sltrib.com/opinion/ci_6929714
