“We all deeply regret the tragic suffering of the Armenian people that began in 1915,” Mr. Bush said in a brief statement from the White House. “But this resolution is not the right response to these historic mass killings, and its passage would do great harm to relations with a key ally in NATO and to the war on terror.”
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/10/wa...syahoo&emc=rss You can't fault Bush for securing US interests. Just it would be nice if once US interests and World interests coincided. |

Lets take a look at other major countries China- Communist state that executes just about anyone who commits a crime and murders to control population Iran- Deranged theocracy/dictatorship which controls it's citizens by blocking outside communication and threatens to wipe Israel off the map. Also calls US the great Satan. Obtaining nuclear weapons although nothing near as good as US weapons. North Korea- Deranged dictatorship in which they are threatening to obtain nuclear weapons, controls citizens as well. Cuba- Communist state which controls it's citizens Mexico- Socialist country where workers are greatly underpaid and leadership is corrupt Britain- favorable opinion as of now, but continues to let fanatical Islam shake it's foundation. They bend over backwards to please them. Canada-Not good or bad in my mind. Socialist systems are not doing so well. Loose values. Sounds like a world I want to buy into.... Open your eyes, if the United States would conform to world interests we would be a socialist, anti-capitalist, anti-Israel, citizen oppressing dictatorship. A recipe for failure and corruption.

I doubt anyone doesn't believe the orchestrated starving, murder, and deportations of Armenians 90-92 years ago was not an orchestrated event of Genocide by the Ottoman Empire.
Today though it is an unnecessary to pass or push forward resolutions by the US Congress that do nothing but upset an ally that isn't even responsible for any of the acts of that time. The damage it can potentially cause with a touchy Turkey atm is simply not worth it. The events are almost a century old and condeming an existing state for actions so far in the past especially when it is a key ally in the primary region of an ongoing war with the fore knowledge that such an act will (*)(*)(*)(*) off the people/government of that state for absolutely zero notable gain..is asinine foolishness. None of those who orchestrted it..liely none of those who carried it out or suffered it are alive. Hell the vast amjority born* during it are dead. Its akin to dragging up some massacre in 1131 and condeming the state it occured in as well as the people there today for it. Just a tad ridiculous when there is no gain only cost to the action. Course on the political front I do not put it past some of the Democrats to be using this as a tool to further undermine the war effort. They seem to make a past time of shafting their own nation&soldiers as much as possible.

Amendenijad is a current dictator and there are other issues with him besides what he said about the Holocaust. Besides that, he's free to make a big fool of himself in denying if he wants to. Everyone else knows the truth.
As far as this latest untimely fiasco by the Democrat majority---the bulk of supplies for troops in Iraq pass through Turkey's Incirlik airbase, and Turkey provides thousands of truck drivers and other workers for U.S. operations in Iraq. Supplies also flow from the base to troops in Afghanistan. Is this the kind of leadership we have with these Democrats? Is this really what they want to do-----ruin an important relationship with an important ally who is helping us? One of the FEW Muslim nations that IS helping us, BTW. SURELY, the Democrat leadership is not THIS stupid.
