Yes, the words "...under God..." should be removed from the "Pledge".
No, the words "...under God..." should not be removed from the "Pledge".
A bunch of little things adding up can make people feel alienated. A lot of non-believers already feel alienated from their neighbors, and this could potentially make people feel alienated from their entire country.
I have thick enough skin that I don't really care about the pledge or what our money says, but even I feel alienated sometimes from the people around me because of the religion issue.
Liberty without socialism is privilege, injustice; Socialism without liberty is slavery and brutality
I know many people who are not believers and I have never heard one say they feel alienated. Usually they wear their lack of belief proudly and are often asking people why they believe what they do.
I'm not sure what I believe and don't have any hesitation debating either side of the issue. I think your incorrect with this statement.
Then let them starve. That is absolutely the stupidest thing I have heard on this forum in the past few months.
If you are stupid enough to not use currency because it says God on it then I have zero sympathy for you. If they had a family and their children suffered because of this I would like for them to explain their case to child services and tell their story to their cellmates in prison.
You really don't know better than what you're revealing here?
Here's a question: Why would they bring that up? Have you asked them how they really feel about what you are assuming here??
I know many quiet, even Christ-like unbelievers. So, don't assume too much.Usually they wear their lack of belief proudly and are often asking people why they believe what they do.
In any case, I would say that religious beliefs/values should NOT be imposed upon anyone (with the exception of people's own children... though personally I dislike that).I'm not sure what I believe and don't have any hesitation debating either side of the issue. I think your incorrect with this statement.

Atheists aren't usually doing that. Maybe in internet forums, because thats kind of the point, but in real life most are private about it. Pretty much every conversation I've gotten into about religion has been someone else instigating it.
I think it also depends on where in the country you live. I saw a story on either dateline or 60 minutes a few years back about an atheist father and daughter who basically got run out of a southern town because she wouldnt participate in a prayer before some sporting event.
Not to mention we are typically found to be the least trusted demographic in the country. That alone is pretty alienating.
Oh, and we aren't represented in the government at all as far as I'm aware.

I had a dream the other night, where I found out I was the only non-paid poster on this forum.
