Thread: "Under God"... should be removed from the "Pledge"

It is time to remove the words "...under God..." [added in 1954] from the "Pledge of Allegiance".

“Every day these kids go to school and the pledge is recited,” family lawyer David Niose told CBS News. “And declaring that the nation is in fact under God ... marginalizes them.”

Under Massachusetts state law, schools are required to display the American flag and start the day with the Pledge of Allegiance."

This lawsuit is going to bring that premise up for a national argument; I'm glad about that.

(Ultimately, this isn't just about the "Pledge" itself.)

Agreed God should be removed. As well as "in god we trust" from our money. And any monuments praising region should be immediately torn down from public property. We are a secular nation as it states in the constitution. With freedom of religion also comes the inevitable freedom FROM religion.

I would have to agree with you on that. There is a separation of Church and State but it does not allude to the fact that we are a secular nation.

But this significantly 'informs' how the U.S. Constitution is interpreted in such matters.

Honest question...

Do any of you really lay awake at night pissed off that it says God on the money?

I mean I'm Agnostic and borderline Atheist and I 100% don't give a crap that it says God on my quarters.

We have real issues in this country that need to be addressed and you people waste your time and energy fighting stupid crap like this for no other reason but to stir up (*)(*)(*)(*).
