Default Criminals spank their children?

Well what do you think?

Is a spanking abuse?

Is there "never" a case where a spnking might be a helpful tool in disciplining a child?

Were you spanked as a child? (belt, strap, switch, hand, or paddle)

Have you slapped a behind, or slapped the hand of you own child?

Have you ever spanked the child of others (grandparents, educators, sitters, best friends, etc…)?

Default ...

It is dumb if spanking is outlawed. That said, I do not believe that spanking is necessary in all cases and believe it should be toward the bottom of the list of tools for discipline.
People don't seem to get that abuse is not so much related to method, but in how consistently and for what reasons the method is used. Belting a kid for doing wrong is not abuse (provided it's on the butt and doesn't do permanent damage). Belting a kid for inconsistent reasons is. So is yelling at a kid inconsistently. What's important is that it is possible for the kid to know what right and wrong is and to be able to achieve right.

Default Just tell me, is it safe?

I can't get the link to work. Can someone summarize for me? I'm going to guess it's the Bay Area. Besides always being on the extreme fringe I recall they have no spanking zones.

My kids turned out fine. We're one of the least dysfunctional families I know. I do suggest a small paddle though. My shoulder is in terrible shape.

I should have guessed that second!

Thanks for the link 12th...the state court already ruled on it so I don't see what the legislation will accomplish. If the court went back on its word I feel confident SCOTUS would overturn it. Can't say I'm surprised it's Mass, there are a healthy amount of extremists in this state too.

Default I heard it thru the grapevine how much longer will u be mine

The logic of those pushing for this legislation say by making "all" spankings illegal it will send a message to those who do abuse? By punishing people who do not abuse?

Of course every time this stuff comes to the point of becoming law, and parents who have everything under control until their authority has been undermined, ask for a suggestion from these child psychology experts for an alternative, all they get is, "well your the parent it is totally up to you"!

???WELL NO EVIDENTLY IT ISN"T???

Default To Spank or Not To Spank!

Personally, I can't spank a kid. It just doesn't feel right. Maybe it would work for some people but for me, nuh-uh.

Can't really fault those who do, though. Sometimes, with some kids and some parents, it's the only thing that seems to work. And you've got to find something that will make a kid behave or else you're being a lousy parent, aren't you?

Default spank away

I was spanked as a kid with numerous items including a belt, wooden paddle, and my Dad would use his Pointed Toe Cowboy boots while still wearing them. (no matter how tall I got he still couldn't hit my but but would get my back lol) And I have and do spank my kids when needed. (Maybe not enough.)

Think about it
20 years ago Violence among teens was lower, Theft was lower, respect was higher and spanking was allowed.

Now just look at the papers

Most of the people that are trying to ban spanking were spanked as kids

My son right now is grounded from his PS2, phone and friends let me tell you it is not helping it is making it worse cause he is so bored and sees everyone else doinng things it just seems to make him more angry so after this it is back to the belt.
