Default .

My views go in so many different directions that I don't have a "grain", so to speak. I am pro-life and a supporter of censorship, so some might assume that I am a "cultural conservative", yet I oppose school prayer and I support leaving gay marriage up to the states. On foreign policy, I don't think that the war in Iraq was justified, but I do support regime changes in several nations through CIA-aided coups. I support a degree of welfare reform that would definitely appeal to conservatives, but I also support raising the minimum wage. I support privatizing social security, strongly oppose gun control, strongly support affirmative action and I support open borders. If any of you even see a grain for me to go against, I'd be very much surprised.

Hmm..

I suppose that before finding the exceptions, one should align oneself with an ideological faction..

Should I be a liberal or European left or a Finnish social democrat or just me. I'm not certain, if I feel perfectly with any of these categories. I have my own way of thinking. I might share same values with these faction, but I tend to form my opinions, and it's a matter of luck, if these opinions match with the party line.

Besides, considering that people are rather unfamiliar with most factions, I would likely end up describing the factions instead of me.

Still, Hmm.. For a leftish, I did oppose the Iraq war, all thought I do like the idea of spreading democracy around. I support transfer of income, but I also like the market economics (it works) and I'm against any extra state interventions. I see the social system supporting important social values, all thought I dislike the bums abusing the system. I have nothing against foreigners, but I see it pointless to bring here uneducated immigrants, when we have 10% unemployement rates and oversupply of non-educated fork force. Also. I see the civil movements as important part of democracy, but some of them appear rather silly or even harmful. And so on...

Heh, I suppose I'm a broad-minded moderate - or just unable to make any ideological decisions

Default Well...

I'm very socially liberal-- what happens in someone's bedroom, womb, etc. is their business and not mine or anyone else's.

However, I am definitely for some sort of mandatory service (two years) once people (both men and women) graduate from high school (or turn 18 if they don't graduate)-- I don't care whether it's military, AmeriCorps, missionary work-- whatever.

Too much important work is not getting done, and each passing generation is getting more insulated and self-absorbed-- mandatory service would help alleviate both problems.
