Thread: Foreigners and Anti-Semitism

  1. Default Foreigners and Anti-Semitism

I've noticed that most of the Antisemitism on this forum comes primarily from foreigners, specifically, Brits and Aussies. Why is that? Why are Brits and Aussies the most likely to buy into the Antisemitic conspiracy theories? Is it their history? Their culture?

It's not a case of antisemitism (antisemitism is mainly a misused term in these forums) but a case of Australians and Brits (and Europeans in general) failing to understand why something like 20% of all American aid being spent in Israel, plus the huge arms deal with Israel.

I've noticed that most of the unfounded accusations of Antisemitism on this forum comes primarily from xenophobic Americans, often against Brits and Aussies. Why is that? Why are Brits and Aussies seen as least likely to buy into these conspiracy theories? Is it American history? American culture?

No, you are wrong. Critizice the government for being fascist is not being antisemit, is being realist.

And are you saying that almost whole world that is knowing that what is doing Israel, violating international treaties... is illegal, inhuman and it has to end, are antisemits? Please end with that nonsense.

Ah, and Palestinians, Arabs... are Semits, so I can never be Antisemit.

    Quite right Colonel.

I wonder how Americans can fail to see anti-semitism in their midst. Try Pat Buchanan.

American rightists accuse anyone who has any issue with the actions of the Israeli State to be anti semites.

American Jews are largely liberal. If American rightists wish to indulge in debate, rather than xenophobia against Europeans, they might find that Jews in their own country do not generally agree with them.

I think the term "classical liberal" is also equally applicable. I don't really care very much what I'm called. I'm much more interested in having people thinking about the ideas, rather than the person. Milton Friedman

LOL I'm really surprised to here you say this. Maybe I haven't been checking where people are from, but I haven't noticed that at all. I can guarantee you, Australian society doesn't stand such nonsense. There's a fair bit of racism and xenophobia, but not an acute amount. Aside from that...

I'm willing to change my position at any time on any issue. I have done so in the past. All you need is a logical, provable case, and I'm all in. The question is, have you got what it takes?
Oh, and just so you're not confused, I'm an apatheist libertarian.

He means criticizing Israel is anti-semitic.

To be fair H, many British Jews of my acquaintance criticise Israel's actions too. They must be antisemitic by right wing American claqueur standards.

Huh? Most Australians and NZders don't give Israelis a second thought except when they come to spy on them or forge their identity documents so they can spy on others.
