Why in the world would you want a state issued exam when our state issued school system is like 30 something in the world as far as education rankings........? The state is already doing a horrible job with our education system .... hell no

We, as teachers, were told that we can't be trusted to assess students. Of course, those were politicians telling us that the state needed to get involved (NCLB).

You got state examines because you were doing a (*)(*)(*)(*) poor job of edcuating kids and were graduating too many kids that were essentially illiterate.

Yeah I think our teachers need a little less red tape.

We do need many more teachers and far fewer educrats.

However had the teachers and educrats been doing their jobs the tests would never have happened.

State still selects the curriculum, which is one of the big problems.

This board sure is proof of that. However, why don't you tell that to my students from last year, 94% of whom passed the reading and English state exams.

It could be that Republicans have done their best to tell the world that the U.S. doesn't think education is important in order to silence the voice of educators both politically and institutionally.

Ah, yes...because those 3 1/2 hours a week I see my students is the biggest influence on their academic motivation and achievement. Nothing else matters, right?
