Personally I think we should care about the UN, though once it gets to the point of letting a Russian veto overide our policy I can see why we should consider breaking.

But for those in the country. What do you feel that the US motives are for allowing their independence? From the US citizens point of view what we're doing is allowing an ethnic minority to be free from the people who slaughtered them a decade ago.

It's not for the U.S. to "allow" or not "allow". It's not our concern. Why did we recognize the new government? That one is easy. Because Russia didn't. Yes, world leaders act just like little kids. All the time.

You've raised some points on this Kosovo thing that we hadn't been seeing over here.

And you've been exposed to a lot of, well, lets just say some of the people here occasionally admit to being "not nice". Regardless you'd be upset at the US.

But don't throw in the crazy. You know that quote isn't right. Even if you think the US is oppressive your statement says that none of the other governments in the world are.
