That's funny. It never mentioned this use:

[1] Punch holes in paper from 150 yards.
You maybe are wondering why some posts contain strange mangled text.. A modem broke recently and the old temporary one is dropping text accidentally and slow. It will be repaired surely in no time.

Is volume of fire as the fundamental tenant of modern warfare, and removing this ability defeating the intent of the 2nd amendment, on the list?

Nope but how fast do you think you could unload the clips of 3 9mm pistols?

    What's really the difference?

Do you believe any of those children would still be alive if the man was using a different weapon? What if he went in with a couple shotguns. They can clear out a classroom fairly quickly.

My interest is more in modifying firing pins, and turning those semi-auto weapons into fully auto weapons during open rebellion.

If there's ever open rebellion it will probably be over with fairly quickly. I wouldn't worry about having automatic weapons but if you want one I'm sure there will be plenty lying on the ground for you to pick up.

300 million guns in circulation, no shortage of weaponry.

My concern is that all that will be laying on the ground is shotguns, handguns, and hunting rifles.

BTW, since when was asymmetrical warfare a quick ordeal?

Well this is a whole different debate but frankly even if assume all the armed forces and all the law enforcement side with the Federal organization and go against the population, they won't last very long.

At most they will be bunkered up in fortresses scattered around the country. No way a few thousand troops here and there are going to stop a crowd of millions rushing them. Even if they can hold off for a little while, they will eventually run out of ammunition and there is nobody resupplying them, no factories making them more. No one to service their weapons.

The population will have control. This has always been the biggest fear of governments throughout history and its been proving time and again.

Case in point, simply look at any of the riots throughout our history, the police are easily overwhelmed and even if they were to engage in live fire, the other side will be shooting back. How long do you think a few hundred would last against an armed mob of thousands even if they have superior weapons?

Not long. Look how long it took the police to take down the two gunmen in L.A. who had body armor and automatic weapons. Its not as easy as you think, now multiply these two men by a few thousand and you have a problem for the military or law enforcement.

Look at the Vietcong who were easily outgunned yet they definitely held their own and were on equal footing once our guys left their bases. Take away artillery support and...well, you can see how its going to turn out.

Are you guys really this mentally insane? The only chance a rebellion would have of survival is if the Govt/Military decided they didn't want to massacre you and just left you alone until the rebellion subsided. You guys absolutely live in your own made up world.

I agree the whole right wing extremist platform of "we need to guns protect us from the evil government" is nothing but tea party paranoia.
