Does Iran have a lot of arranged (or semi arranged) marriages?

My family is from Pakistan, and it's not uncommon to hear of an arranged marriage (maybe not TOTALLY, they get to meet and talk).

I was just curious of the traditions in that respect

Your parents choose your wife/husband for you is what I mean by arranged marriages.

Fortunately, I'm not in that boat that my parents chose for me, but I know some people who have had that.

1) No

2) for now? I don't think so. at least, us should help them as well as iran. our countries should discuss these matters.

3) sunni arabs hate shiites. that makes it hard. for iran, not until US become friendly with iran. us shouldn't use iraq as a base to threaten iran and iran should be more participating in the iraq issue.

4) why not? even israel is trusted with 200 nukes and a radical zionist regime.
heheh you've got a good point with #4.
Altho S-S pointed out why it's hard to trust your Mullahs with nuclear weapons. Aside from that, it sounds like people on both sides have common interests and can work together.
Thanks for sharing your opinions, Perham.. very interesting.

Especially this bit:

It simply demonstrates how easily muslims can be manipulated. If democracy fails, it would be quite easy to just keep them in-fighting and living in chaos and poverty.

How much do you feel your views are that of the nation vs that of your area? You're a college student right? Here in the US the opinions held by many college students(especially the vocal ones) are rather different from the country as a whole.

Also if Iran continues with its nuclear plans and Israel bombs your production facilities, what would be the best way for the west to try and reconcile afterwards?

did I say anything about fighting?! do you actually consider "different ideas" as manipulation?

no, we don't have such traditions now. maybe in some far villages, but not in mainstream iranians.

anything that has been asked me(personally) was my own opinion. but when it was asked about the situation, traditions, actual happenings, I didn't answer them from myself. I'm considered as liberal left here. we are 50% of the country. the radical conservatives roughly gains 20% of people's support. the other 30% goes to neutral conservatives that are critic of government actions and agree with us in most discussed issues here. college guys are leaders of people's movements here. we have the same guys in the colleges in the same
ratio that we have in society. we have our mini wars inside colleges.

that would definitely start a bloody war. nothing can be done further if ahmadinejad is in office. there would be no hope then.
