Iran: Mother sentenced to Death by Stoning

Tehran, 28 Sept.(AKI) - A court in the Iran's 2nd largest city, Mashad, has sentenced to death by stoning a mother-of-Three for having an extra-marital affair, an Iranian newspaper reported Friday.

The daily Quds said the married woman's lover had confessed to having had sex with her and that the court sentenced Him to 100 lashes.

There are currently EIGHT women in Iranian prisons waiting to be executed by stoning, a practice usually reserved for those found guilty of adultery according to the Islamic republic's law

Don't buy into that. Things are a lot better now. It used to be that you had the information your government or a newspaper gave you. That's it. Believe it or don't. And if you don't believe it you have no way to find out what the truth actually is without physically traveling somewhere.

These days you can find information from multiple sources. If you want to know about Kosovo you can read what the Albanians, the UN, and the Serbs think about every point in the relevant history and you can check and double check any fact you wish.

Luckily in most cases the sources mostly agree giving you a nugget of truth. Typically the disagree in "spin" and in details.

For example maybe in a given massacre you get figures of 2,000, 3,198, and 10,000 from very different but reasonably credible sources. Likely there are details of how they got those numbers and fair reasons why they may be different. But you can be reasonably sure that a massacre happened and a lot of people were killed.

Spin is a bit harder to deal with. Usually it involves selective ommision of facts and reinterpritation of facts, mixed in with some speculation. You just have to handle that as best you can. Multiple sources helps, as does considering the motivations of the writers.

but what you're providing as a image of iran, is people that are living under fear of dying innocently. that's far from truth. those who are dying by the rule of judges, are highly dangerous convicts, and those who clearly oppose the rule of islam. people would kill them even if there were no government here. do you know what happened to the guy that had sex with zohreh (the famous iranian TV star)? people killed him, although government supported him. these are the cultural deferences.

the whole problems was in AmirKabir University of Technology, and all of those who were expelled counted less than 20. 7 are in jail. I were there at the day ahmadinejad came, and his job in expelling student was shameful. but the numbers you (or your source) are giving is incredibly high, that would be 20% of university students of tehran!!

if you lived here, you knew that we doesn't have standard books in our universities, every professor uses which he thinks is better. almost all of 'em are English or English-translated, therefore , there is no such "University textbooks" to be cleansed!!

ahmadinejad has no power in those issues. he can't order executions. these are "ghove ghazaieh"'s (Judicial Bureau) responsibilities. ahmadinejad is the head of "ghoveh mojrieh" (government).

your source looks so much wrong and extremely biased. I believe this can continue endlessly, because you can bring me thousands of biased sources, including the popular ones. one can prove that almost every information about iran in the internet is BS.
