Not really. We already have laws on the books that state that all employees must have a social security number. The problem is companies who pay under-the-table cash for labor. Granted, that's a given in our society on a small scale, but just cracking down on this aspect would do a great improvement.

Mexican immigrants are in the US because life sucks in Mexico. They should either pay for social services, or we just need to get rid of social services altogether.
As anti-socialist as I am, I still agree that social services are necessary. However, they should be ONLY entitled to those who are citizens. Social services are "benefits" for being a citizen of a country. This could be a good incentive for Mexican invaders to "man up" and get a citizenship.

I don't know what the tax burden is on people making over $100,000 - when i get there, i will figure a way to hide my money.
Let's say you already make that amount (which ain't a whole helluva lot, anymore). If you felt that you were taxed fairly, and at an equal rate as everyone else, wouldn't you feel better about paying taxes? Sure you'd be paying more taxes anyway (1% of $1MM is still more than 1% of $1K), but at least it's an equal rate, and fair.

Quote:
But George Bush is also giving me a Stimulus package - I'll take the handout but I didn't ask for it.
The problem with this is that there's no guarantee that folks are going to spend that money. They might just tuck it away, so how will that help the economy now?

Quote:
Evangelical Republicans want govt to instigate pro-life, anti-birth control, school prayer, anti-gay marriage. However, not all republicans feel this way.
Absolutely correct. Furthermore, there are a lot less of the "religious right," than of your typical republicans. The liberals have a problem understanding this.

Quote:
Christians also want to help the poor and support immigration of the impoverished and reach across racial barriers.
True. Too bad christians are being demonized by the liberal media right now.

Remember..."immigration" is not the problem. "ILLEGAL immigration" is. No one has an issue with Mexicans wanting to come into the country to better themselves. We just have a problem with them circumventing the legal process.

I’m anti-professional politician! These people have no business being in politics!

It is completely disruptive to democracy, and the democratic ideal! Isn’t the whole idea to have a government for the people by the people? Professional politicians in America, have deemed themselves our royal class, and cater to their peer minority! They don’t give a dogs squat about the rest of the nation. Wasn’t this country established to eliminate the chances of the supremacist/elite from gaining control over the common man ever again?

Well it’s obvious this experiment has been an utter failure!

Anti-hilary. I am a registered Dem and could potentially vote for Obama, but will most likely vote for McCain because his views are closest to my own.

You are starting to convince me that you aren't a one-track poster. I like that, thank you.

I spent 3 years in England and loved every minute of it. Maggy T. showed me a good time.

Not so sure that McCain is going to stay, "McCain" while in office. But we will see.

It is my strong conviction that John McCain has the courage to try and undo the damage. But if he can't pull it off, then I am confident that the political leadership of the RNC is incapable of giving us a national candidate and I will find one myself.
I agree. great post. I was willing to vote for a strong Democratic candidate because I have come to the opinion that W is a retard. But, Obama probably is not what I'm looking for. However, McCain could be. I'm willing to give him a chance, at least.

I still wish he'd won in 2000. I'd preferred to have had him in office on 9/11 than the Wimbecile.

I suppose I'd be better stated as anti-Republican.
I like McCain. But he's running for president.
The president is the one office where I can't even bring myself to think about a Republican these days...
Maybe if he said he was going to place justices similar to Kennedy or O'Connor. Moderates.
That would be good.
But like all Republicans who want to be viable, he is promising a "strict constructionist"... which I interpret as the right-wing version of a "judicial activist"... a recipe for declining civil liberties and corporations running rampant.

Maybe if the Court were dominated by radical liberals at the mometn, I'd consider it... but as it is...
There's no way I can in good conscience be a part of getting in another right-wing judge to the SC.
So while I would not normally be anti-McCain- I actually like the guy- I will vote for Clinton if necessary to keep that from happening.

You seriously trust the she-devil more than McCain?

Yeesh. You're scaring me, man.

Depends on what you mean by "trust"
Really the word "trust" and the name of any politician should never be in the same sentence.

I don't actually believe McCain would keep us any safer.
I agree more with Hillary's agenda as it stands than McCain's (although that is subject to change with the polls).
Really the judge thing is the major deal-breaker for me.
Otherwise I might consider voting Green.

I can't see McCain appointing a hardcore conservative to the bench. It doesn't fit with his history. Nor is he known for pandering to the religious right or corporate America.
