I realize this is your immediate reaction to the topic, but being Jewish does not make one a Zionist (radical or otherwise). A good many prominent Jews (especially Orthodox) oppose Zionism and further expansion in Israel. Since "anti-Semitic" is a hot buzzword, many Zionists (Jews and non Jews) connect any criticism of their aims to just that. It's traditionally been a rather effective tactic. Of late, it's begun to run out of steam. It doesn't pass the giggle test when a Zionist points at an Orthodox Jew and screams,
he's just saying that because he's anti-Semitic!
But so many have heard the two terms (Jewish and Zionist) used synonymously that they're virtually the same in the minds of many. Understandably, many of the Jewish faith don't like this. Why should they pay a price for a movement which they don't agree with in the first place?
There are a good many people who are anti-Zionists (myself, for instance), who are not anti-Jewish (anti-Semitic is a bastardized term, which has been grossly misused). But the neo-conservatives (using their typical
if you're not with us, you're against us = a liberal) will continue to use the race/religion card to stifle broader public discussions of the matter.
