Question Do you think the U.S. Supreme Court uses its power wisely?

If yes, why? If no, why not?

I don't think they use their power at all, with the exception of the gun law they are about to review.

They have what's called constitutional review. That means that they can review any law or action performed by the President or Congress, yet they were silent when the Patriot act was passed, when the President illegally wiretapped Americans' phone calls, etc.

The Supreme Court is supposed to keep the country from descending into tyranny. This is why they have life long terms.

Of course I guess it's not their fault. Our judges have become a political reward or trophy, which is given to whichever party wins the Presidency at the right time.

They recently decided a case in which the international court of justice helped by George Bush was attempting to usurp the laws of the State of Texas.

I thought their decision was correct. I was saddened but not surprised that 3 judges dissented.
