Default R.I.P. Charlton Heston.

Heston died saturday. Like Ronald Reagan, he started out as a liberal, but left the democrat party as it became ever more a force for statism and oppression. He won an oscar as Best Actor for his portrayal of Ben Hur. There was no firmer supporter of americans second amendment rights. God - Buckley and then Heston within a week.

"From my cold dead hands"

So, I guess that means now...

Heston was a crazy old coot, but he stuck to his guns, and I can respect that.

No smear, just opinion.

People I don't know or care about are dying as I type.

Call me callus, but at least I'm honest.

Guy had alzheimers: was crazy.

A completely apt president of the nra.

He was ardent in his advocacy: that I respect.

But, little else.

Well, no. He resigned the NRA presidency in 2003.

Moreover, as in the case of Reagan, it should be pointed out that diagnosis occurs years well after the onset of the disease.

Additionally, the disclosure of the diagnosis is often delayed by politico's, for obvious reasons.

Only when the left wing hack Moore tried to take advantage of him. Which laughingly backfired. A WWII vet, Heston was a great American.

He was a lot like Reagan. When asked why he left the democrat party, he said "I never left the democrat party - the democrat party left me."

Likewise, when asked why he politically changed, Heston said "I didn't change - the definitions changed." A few LA civil rights leaders who remember well Heston's role in that movement held a public prayer for him yesterday.
