Its time for Republicans and conservatives and libertarians to support a massive investment in alternative energy as well as domestic oil exploitation. Its not a question of global warming or the environment but what is necessary to win this global war, this WWIII, against the evil ideology of islam. They are using OUR money against us and we MUST deny them this opportunity. Solar, wind, and tide power generation is now profitable. Its time for the USA to become the leader, by far, in alternative energy production. As of now, there are more than a few countries that are ahead of us in this regard.

Its the only way to win this war. As long as we are willing to make our civilization dependent on muslim resources and muslim barbarism, we are doomed.

In time of war, it is imperative that our national expenditures on energy be redirected away from those who use them against us. Even if the underwriting of terror were not such a concern, our present dependency creates unacceptable vulnerabilities. 'Set America Free' coalition

Something you need to realize is that it isn't quite as simple as getting a bunch of hydro power plants online.

See very little oil is put towards power. It's almost all used in one kind of transportation or other. And the technology isn't developed yet to the point where electric vehicles are good enough for people to buy them in large numbers.

That's why fuel cell technology is such a big deal.

With more nuclear power plants coming online and other energy options (green and not green). If we had a really good electric based mode of transportation oil independence would not be all that far out of sight.

Except for the fact that we wouldn't actually go independent. Even if we didn't need their oil, they would drop their prices until we wanted it again.

So really when you're talking about independence from foreign oil you're talking about needed to develop fuel cells or something like that in order to shave their profit margins and allow us to throw out some meaningful sanctions.

As much as I don't like you for the whole "I hate Muslims" thing, I support taking their oil. At very least it's a goal with serious profit. It's not the empty promise of being prepared to fight a war for 50 years, it's something profitable.

I'm actually doing a report on Oil right now, and there's no reason that oil should cost more than 10-15$ a barrel, regardless of rising world demand. OPCE is a monopoly that has been bleeding the world dry of money for a very long time. Of course, I need to mention that gas prices would still be around $2 a gallon, regardless of the price of oil. The demand for new refineries is what is driving gas prices up so quickly.

Right, and in the mean time, our tanks are supposed to go empty, our factories go dry, our heat go cold, etc.

I need to mention that the war will never be over if we do that. In all likeliness this will make it far far worse. You wont "win" it.

I realize you're hell bent on the destruction of Islam. You might be delighted to know of a conspiracy theory that I'm almost willing to believe. When you think about what America is doing, they are basically stock piling everything. We have food, oil, wealth. Other nations really have nothing compared to us. I'm not talking on the natural resource level. I mean, we buy everything. In the global "mine" game, we win. The interesting twist, is that we are giving them paper, a sliver of a tree for their resources. If there were ever to be a WWIII, and pray there isn't, we would have everything, while they have paper. Paper, that once we wage war against the world, will not be accepted. You could easily look at the negative exports in the GDP or the nation budget as proof, but it's still a conspiracy theory. I just thought it would make you feel better.

Where are you getting that impression? The destruction of the monopoly OPEC will lower the cost of living substantially.

I'd let the free markets truly be free to look for alternative energy sources.

The idea of switching from gasoline to ethanol seems like the dumbest idea in the world to me. Using food for gas, doesn't make sense to me. Why sacrifice the food supply? Look for something else.

Because environmentalists care more about fuel emissions than the American people.
