Default Does Al-Sadr need to be killed?

Apparently they are working towards a "peaceful" solution in Najaf. But Al-Sadr is demanding that he and his party will be able to take part in Iraq's elections. Of course, if he was elected (by legitimate means or otherwise), he would likely turn Iraq into a Muslim fundamentalist state, which is not acceptable.

Methinks he needs to be taken out.

Default .

We tried to bargain with him once before and that did not work. But, it is an internal Iraqi issue and they need to decide what they want to do.

If I were the Iraqi Prez, I would believe that a stable Iraq and Sadr cannot co-exist.

Default If he is killed would that be a sensitive, thoughtful thing?

Who cares? Kill the rotten despot.

Default ...

Not at the moment, his death would create such uproar that it would not be worth it. In the long run for a democratic Iraq he isn't good, but for now he shouldn't be assassinated. He'd be more valuable for his cause as a martyr than he is right now.

It would not take a rocket-scientist to figure out that if the anti-American Al-Sadr dies, who would have killed him.

What if a video tape emerged with Islamic leaders beheading him, who would be blamed then

The government invited him to be part of the election because he is so popular with the people. And do you think that anyone besides a Muslim fundamentalist will ever get elected there by the people? NO. Iraq is a Muslim fundamentalist country.

And if anyone was stupid enough to kill Al Sad'r, the country would erupt and insurgent numbers would sky rocket.
You sound pretty suicidal to me buddy.

So by all mean, go over there and see what you can stir up.

... don't believe I'd be bad-mouthing liberals about "swaying people to your side", after seeing the job Dubya and company have done in this area.

Your hero just needs to go over and tell Al-Sadr to "bring 'em on!" That's worked so well for him so far.
