Actually, the president had intelligence that countered popular myth, and chose to ignore it.

What's tired is that some people think it's ok that we made this dumb mistake.

This place is rife with Neocon nonsense

Part of the reason I decided to stick around.

At least two dozen times a debate has turned into me asking for proof, only to be told there is none, or that they don't need to.d

Good times.

Nobody ever said Saddam and Iraq committed 9/11. But Saddam has been linked to al qaeda.

From the link you are so proud of:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3080244/

MR. RUSSERT: The Washington Post asked the American people about Saddam Hussein, and this is what they said: 69 percent said he was involved in the September 11 attacks. Are you surprised by that?

VICE PRES. CHENEY: No. I think it’s not surprising that people make that connection.

MR. RUSSERT: But is there a connection?

VICE PRES. CHENEY: We don’t know.
You and I talked about this two years ago. I can remember you asking me this question just a few days after the original attack. At the time I said no, we didn’t have any evidence of that. Subsequent to that, we’ve learned a couple of things. We learned more and more that there was a relationship between Iraq and al-Qaeda that stretched back through most of the decade of the ’90s, that it involved training, for example, on BW and CW, that al-Qaeda sent personnel to Baghdad to get trained on the systems that are involved. The Iraqis providing bomb-making expertise and advice to the al-Qaeda organization.

We know, for example, in connection with the original World Trade Center bombing in ’93 that one of the bombers was Iraqi, returned to Iraq after the attack of ’93. And we’ve learned subsequent to that, since we went into Baghdad and got into the intelligence files, that this individual probably also received financing from the Iraqi government as well as safe haven.

Now, is there a connection between the Iraqi government and the original World Trade Center bombing in ’93? We know, as I say, that one of the perpetrators of that act did, in fact, receive support from the Iraqi government after the fact. With respect to 9/11, of course, we’ve had the story that’s been public out there. The Czechs alleged that Mohamed Atta, the lead attacker, met in Prague with a senior Iraqi intelligence official five months before the attack, but we’ve never been able to develop anymore of that yet either in terms of confirming it or discrediting it. We just don’t know.

MR. RUSSERT: We could establish a direct link between the hijackers of September 11 and Saudi Arabia.

haha.

And Bush holds hands with that guy.

Nice one.

Cheney lied about the relationship, and Russert called him out on it.

So you believe the CIA when they say something you like?

Even the UN was never 100% sure if they had WMD or not.

And Clinton was on their payroll:

http://www2.nysun.com/article/5137

LITTLE ROCK, ARK. — President Clinton's new $165 million library here was funded in part by gifts of $1 million or more each from the Saudi royal family and three Saudi businessmen.

The governments of Dubai, Kuwait, and Qatar and the deputy prime minister of Lebanon all also appear to have donated $1 million or more for the archive and museum that opened last week.

That's why they sent in weapons inspectors.

Inspectors that were pulled out, because we had decided to invade, even though Iraq was then compliant.

Maybe it's because those who think for the president decided to invade Iraq 5 years before they did:

Inspectors that had over a decade to find out but who Saddam continued to deny access, kick out of the country, and stall forcing the UN to pass 17 seperate resolutions calling for force if he did not comply.

Even in the months leading up to the war Saddam had plenty of time to publicly state he wanted to comply and cooperate.

Sure, he began to let them in only after the US and UK forces were in his driveway and by then, so soon after 9/11, we were not playing games anymore.
