Default Resurrecting Old Lies

There is no proof of an Al Qaeda-Saddam link.

There has been no evidence of an active WMD program in Iraq.d

And, those essential truths have been very well documented by intelligence agencies, the pentagon, and even the white house.

Underway, it seems, is a disinformation campaign, by the stay-the-course-crew.

As the success of the surge begins to unravel, without meeting it's goal of reconciliation, the old prewar lies are being resurrected by many.

Now, I respect the right of people to disagree on Iraq policy. If you're a soldier, it's your job to rationalize it.

But, what you cant do is lie to make your point.

You can't say there's an al qaeda-saddam link without proof.

You can't say there was an active weapons program, when there was none.

If you do, you're just a liar.

That is all.

Provide a source in which Bush et. al. claimed an Iraq Al Qaeda link? Direct quote to that effect...I'd like to see it.

This is what Bill Clinton said in 1998 when he bombed Iraq:

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/stori...s/clinton.html

Transcript: President Clinton explains Iraq strike
CLINTON: Good evening.

Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.

Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.

Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.

Throw Clinton under the bus as well: he was wrong, and was under pressure from a group of planners for the next century.

And he doesn't claim a connection to al qaeda.

I'm happy to have this debate although it's tired by now. There is no mistaking what everyone on both sides, and the UN as well believed about Iraq in 2003. Based on the overwhelming data we all thought he had WMD. Apparently even Saddams own military leaders thought so to.

If Saddam was bluffing it's on his shoulders to carry the blame of the war, not Bush. Mistakes have been made dealing with the war after we captured Iraq, but the initial idea that WMD were there was agreed upon by everyone. I heard no outcries from the Democrats at the time and in fact they were on board until things began getting bad and then they tried to act as though they were against this from the start.

Hillary connected Saddam to al quaeda in 2002:

http://clinton.senate.gov/speeches/iraq_101002.html

In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001.

Seriously, where have these people been? In another few weeks there will be another (or the same) asking for these quotes. I've only been at this site for 2 months and I've seen 5 or 6 people ask for proof. At the other forum I frequently post at this was a done issue years ago.
