Why would I start another party when everything I want is right here? I'm comfortable.

But it ain't gonna happen. Neocons own this party now. You can camp out in the backyard if you want though.

You havnt done a very good job so far.

McCain may be a little more liberal than I'm comfortable with on some issues. But on foreign policy he is all neocon.
I agree 100% Doctor Rice for President and Colon Powell for VP ...

IMHO: That would be a WINNING ticket!

Neocons are on the way out. Which is a good thing because they are the single biggest danger to the country.

If we are on the way out, why did McCain win the nomination so easily?

That also assumes McCain is A)a neocon , B)going to win the election, and C)is going to surround himself (ala Bush) with neocons. None of those things is evident. Neither is neocons having any real power in Congress come 2009.

ahh - the Neocon thing again!

in my opinion McCain is a weak link competing against much weaker Liberal links!

there is absolutely NO WAY Obama or Clinton are going to win ...

be honest with yourself and quit waisting everyone's time!

The origional topic was "How can conservatives re-capture the republican party?"

I was offering an answer. Specifically using the fact that people often vote with their wallet.

The Republican party consists, of necessity, of a lot of people who are not in the top 10% income bracket. I'm sure it even has some in the bottom 10% and everything in between due to people joining for social or foreign policy related issues. Also it consists of a large percentage of the elderly who are counting on social security and medicade to last at least their lifetime. And regardless to win elections some independents are needed.

So the question these people will ask themselves, especially in the primaries, is "Do I wind up with more or less money if conservative tax laws are passed?"

I imagine there are a lot of people who believe the answer is "less" but for whom the answer would actually be "more." Collecting and getting that information out could seriously help you regain the party. It could possibly even bring in some more members.

Where were the non-neocon candidates if the neocons are so unpopular?

Give me an example of a non-neocon issue that McCain embraces besides immigration.

B)going to win the election
Polls are showing that, at the very least, he is neck and neck with both Democrats.

What exactly makes you think he wont?
