Default Question for conservatives only.

How can conservatives re-capture the republican party? One can hear it now - with a likely loss of the presidency in November, lib "republicans" will claim the republican party has to be just like the liberals - this is a very old cycle in the republican party, going at least back to the 1930s. We had a half-liberal, Bush, and before that Bush the elder. If the republican party gets more lib than it already is, then that means it's not about an idea, conservatism, but rather just a bunch pf people who desire political power, and will do anything to get it - in other words, liberals. And why should we support such a party? If the choice is between two liberal parties, then might as well just tend to our business, and find personal ways to circumvent the destruction of liberalism where and when we can.

Im republican but not overly conservative. There are a variety of things I find deplorable about the GOP but things I find even more intolerable about the left.Issues just arent black and white anymore. Its boiled down to, as it has for a longtime to whos the least unappealing. Its a sucky way to have to make your choices but in the absence of an over the top conservative whos has the backing of a bunch of moderates, the day of old school conservatism is dead.Unfortunately the middle these days has a liberal flavor to it.Its just a matter of keeping liberals from overrunning the whole system.

Well, if you don't like a conservative party, why don't you form your own party? And with the end of Bush, one could say it's the "moderate" position that has just died.

The best thing that could happen to the Republican party and force it to get back to Conservatism is for McCain to lose this election because Registered Republicans refused to vote for such a liberal candidate.

Form my own party? Politics aint my life man,Im just here for the spirited debate.

All Im saying is it will take extraordinary circumstances to get anyone elected President, that has a super conservative agenda. An extreme right winger is what you would need to bring back the good ol days you pine for and extremism doesnt play well in DC.

Do you not think McCain is moderate? He wins little changes.

If the liberals win you go from a 'moderate' Prez to highly liberal.

Either way nothing gets more conservative for you, sorry.

Why do you use the terms "conservative", "super conservative", and "extreme right winger" interchangeably? Does everything to the right of John McCain look like a blur to you?

You know why the far right extremist attitude is dying? Because as society progresses people get smarter. There's less of you.

Just what comes to mind. Bush:

- Implemented "affirmative action" in Texas
- Gave a big boost to federal control of education, and the failed government school sysetm in general with the "No Child Left Behind Act"
- Supports the illegal alien invasion
- Created huge deficits notably by the meds for geezers entitlement
- Failed to rein in the PC orientation of the NIH
- Did nothing to stop abortion.
- Supported the "alternative" energy research boondoggle
- Threw billions of dollars down the africa AIDS rat hole
- Filed a token brief in the U of M cases, but has done nothing to stop the resurgence of the "affirmative action" plague.
