Default Survey Finds 98% Of Historians Consider Bush A 'Failure'...

http://www.usnews.com/articles/news/...h-on-bush.html

The article fails to reveal what the other 2% thought. Some guesses...

1. They are waiting to see if they get their $600 tax rebate before making a judgment.
2. They didn't answer the question because there was no checkbox for "debacle".
3. They questioned the motives of the survey since the only checkbox was "failure".
4. They put Bush in a statistical tie with James K. Polk.

survey of 109 professional historians
109 does not a valid survey make.

What do you wanna bet that 98% of them voted for Gore in 2000, and Kerry in 2004?

And the Democratic dominated congress has an approval rating of 11%.

Your point?

I'd bet you are correct. Besides, how can historians judge Bush when he's not even history yet and Iraq has not played to an end yet?

Does Bush get any credit for zero attacks on our soil in the 7+ years after 9/11?

Does Bush get any credit for leading the nation out of a Clinton recession and keeping unempoloyment under 5% for just about his entire term?

That is because less than 11% of people have any idea what congress does! They spend most of their time on very unimportant things!

last time they took an actual poll of the entire American public, Bush got a 51% approval rating.

Bill Clinton's approval ratings where at an all time high, when he was in the middle of his impeachment, yet, he never received more than 50% in either of his presidential election runs.

This makes me highly suspicious of so called scientific polls. IMO they are totally bogus.

Just like all those polls saying Kerry was beating Bush in 2004.

The problem with your reasoning is that it is impossible to completely evaluate any historical event or person until at least 15 years past the event. This is for two major reasons:
1. People are too connected to the event or person and have intense opinions of this person. These moderate over time.

2. Second, we don't know the long term effects of the policies of a person. This time period would reveal it.

It is in my best opinion that "the study" is not reliable and likely a piece of propaganda or partisan crap.
