I don't get it. Is it just because the government in question is Republican? Is there some disconnect or have I missed a piece in the puzzle.
easily programed by Limpawls, Coulter and Fox TV. Fox has seen the light though, they are doing a redo.

Two thirds of the people are for it and the majority of legislators are for it, but not enough to override a veto. The RR is big down here and they say Sunday sales should continue to be banned "to keep the sabbath holy". The problem is, it's not my sabbath! Why in the world do I need to keep YOUR sabbath holy? If you want to do that, then don't drink on Sunday. What do I care? But I'm not sure why it has to involve me. I'm cool with your religious beliefs, but I don't see any need to live the rules of a faith I don't even follow. And the funny thing is, they would be PISSED if Hindus took over and banned beef. Not that hypocrisy is anything new.
Massachusetts is not really known for its social conservatism but had the ban on Sunday alcohol sales- at least it did when I lived there.

My sister had a restaurant in an upscale town in Mass. and spent 15 years trying to get a liquor license. "No" said the powers that be, your location is too close to a church, you might corrupt minors, etc etc. Actually, small town wealthy Yankees are pretty cheap. They loved brown bagging their wine. They certainly became more innebreated brown bagging than they would have buying by the glass.

Lately, these same people have managed to prevent a "drive thru" cafe from being built [not enough charm] and have done there best to ban people from uglifying there property in any way. No jogging paths could be constructed (undesireables might trespass!) I think it may be law, now, that houses can only hang white lights at XMAS! Wealthy Republicans may be the least Libertarian people in the country, in my observation
