Of course not... what makes you a leftists is the reasons you feel Bush is incompetent.

So what are those reasons?

The worst thing about taxes is that they never go away. Look up the history of the income tax.

OH, well, when you put it like that... lol

You can read my past posts, where I've explained at least 10 times, or don't.

Taxes are necessary but they should be kept at a minimum to pave roads and pay for basic services, etc.

Keeping taxes low puts more money in peoples pockets and keeps businesses growing and adding jobs. More money in your pocket means more spending and feeding the economy.

What's the problem with taxes?

The top 17% of wage earners pay almost 40% of taxes. I don't care if they're "evil," successful people are getting raped, and it's stupid, unsuccessful people who are gleefully raping them.

Poor rich people have it sooooooo bad!

Funny but most are rich because they get most of the tax money collected? If money wasn't directly available from the government most of the richest corporations would be incapable of maintaining the profits they achieve by raping the government piggy bank!

It’s a viscous cycle, wouldn’t you say?

It would be if anything you said above were true. What corporations get in handouts is a drop in the bucket.

I think taxes are necessary. I think it's mostly irrelevant how much taxes are leveled (below something like 50%). As long as the government is efficient and responsible, all of that money will make it back into the economy and then back into peoples' pockets.

Unfortunately our government is ridden with corruption and inefficiencies. For starters, take a look at the current tax system and the IRS. The government spends hundreds of millions of dollars on running the IRS, when it could be like 20 people with computers and a flat rate based on income. It's absurd that we don't have: x amount of income pays y%. Then you send a check through the mail or whatever. No ridiculous forms or multi-million dollar money bucket.

Our government needs to find much more efficient ways of spending our money. Once that happens, I'm happy to pay any tax but until then, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

I do like social taxes. I think that the government should supplement the poor with the successful. I'm not advocating a complete communist system, but I'm definitely not saying we need a 100% free market system either. What we really need is a free market supplemented by semi-wage equalization. The most powerful, and wealthy nation in the world can not have it's government ignore those that go to bed hungry. That being said, I think that welfare should be a work supplement/ disability fund. I don't want to pay people who won't work, only those that can't work or are working but it isn't enough.
