You are confusing conservatives or "the right" with the republican party.
Not really. I know they are different. But since the GOP cliams to be the "right" I wonder why they don't have any "right" candidates. Even with that being said, tons of people who claim to be on the right love big government, too. They just love different aspects of it, like a mega-police state versus having a welfare state or whatever, but big government is big government in my book.

That was not meant to apply to you directly.

The key word here is "Claim". There are precisely ZERO 'Right wingers' that crave big government.

Conservatives are control freaks in their own ways. Or rather, I should say "social conservatives."

And it's conservatives who give more money to charity, not liberals.
First, note that the article itself points out that the difference is in how people view government's role, not in relative generosity. Conservatives will oppose social programs while giving slightly more to charity; liberals will donate less money to charity but support social programs that achieve as much or more.

Second, Stossel's experiment was bogus, largely because the Salvation Army is a religious organization, and a rather conservative one at that. It's no surprise that a conservative, religious population is more willing to donate to such a group than a liberal, nonreligious population that also happens to have lots of members of a group (homosexuals) that the Salvation Army considers immoral (unless they are celibate).

ROFLMNAO... SWEET RATIONALIZATION Ray...

Liberals don't give to charities because they are selfish human beings, the least tolerant people in the history of the species and promote government entitlements for the same reasons.

Charities have a right to hold recipients accountable... Leftists reject the concept acorss the board; thus their rejection of the deity. God is the ultimate threshold of accountability and you people HATE that.

But hey... that's evil for ya.

Could you explain what you mean by a mega-police state?

Libs support giving other people's money away by force, and I'm supposed to put this down to charity? The greed of government, or rather, the statists who hold the purse strings, is unsurpassed by any greed in any other group or institution in society.
