Thing is, most minimum wage jobs are entry-level, meaning you're not meant to do it forever. You have to apply yourself, learn a little, and show some motivation. Then you can move up to a level when you can start enjoying life a bit.
Yup, but hell. Who wants to work hard anymore? A majority of these people that are on welfare don't, or don't seem like they do.

What can I say? I'm an optimist.

Yes, you sure can survive on it. You can not have that car with 12k of spinners. You can not have that big screen, or surround sound, and you can not have nice furniture. But you can survive.

But you can get those things on welfare.

Ah, so now my income level is the base for all US citizens?

Why stop with me? Why not use Bill Gates' yearly salary as the base income level?

I am particular about the friends I keep.

But I've seen plenty.

Mr. Billy Bob, I am sure you knew what I meant, but perhaps I should not assume, as I do not know your earnings.

Aah, yes, I see. McDonalds for us here is a kind of starting point, in that it gives you customer service experience, cash handling, team work etc. Full time employees here earn about $510 per week, which is pretty darn good, I think. No wonder they don't want to leave!

That does not really answer the question. Were they collecting TANF? Single mothers? Who exactly are you talking about?

I am wondering because people have been discussing welfare recipients as though all "poor" people get a check in the mail. I am familiar with poverty but have met very very few welfare recipients.
