Socialism doesn't leave a whole lot of room for social libertarinsm. Really what it comes down to is negative vs positive rights.

Negative rights are related to drug, offenssive speech, sex, etc.
Positive rights are related to wages, protection, welfare, etc.

This country is all (*)(*)(*)(*)ed-up when it comes to it's priorities.
I just want to know if I understand you right. Are you saying that the US has become too socialist, or are you saying that you agree with your idea of negative and positive rights?

Can it be both? lol...

But yes, I'm bassicaly saying America is too socialist.

I want government to do three things:

Protect civil rights
Enforce the law
And have a means of national defense

That's it. Now granted, I'm not a pure libertarian. I do have some economic weaknesses such as nationalism which supports tariffs and organizations that regulate goods. (Like the food&drug administration)

But then I never claimed to be a puritan, simply a libertarian-leaning conservative who believes in pretty much these things:

A) A fetus has the right to be born into this world. Not get jabbed in the head.

B) People have a right to keep their entire paycheck and not donate a (*)(*)(*)(*) thing to anyone.

C) People have a right to do what they want with their bodies. But not what they want to other people's. Which is why drugs should be legal, but robbing someone for drug money shouldn't.

There does seem to be a dissconnect here.

That is, unless you somehow expect all those soldiers and police to just volunteer their services.

Should one also assume you do not drive on any public roads or otherwise partake in any activity funded by tax collection?

A) We've been through this. We don't need roads. I wouldn't mind the entire landscape being rural dirtfarms...

B) Soldiers and police could be for the most part privatized. Ever heard of a militia? And private investigators/security guards do the brunt of police work and are both private buisinesses...

There are unreasonable people on every end of the political spectrum.

Believe it or not I have only found maybe 2-3 people I have talked to on here to be that way.

Lets keep the debate civil and coming from an intelligent place and I think everyone can just quite possibly learn something from the other side.

Ill say it again as I have many times....If someone can prove me wrong on an issue I wont be stubborn and just keep arguing. I am not only here to try and debate and prove points, but also to LEARN.

Hopefully other people here have that mindset.

Well considering I lean more to the left and you (i think) lean to the right this might take awhile...

In all fairness though over the course of our debates on this website, feel free to bring up these remarks I made in the future if you feel I am being stubborn on an issue in the face of overwhelming evidence.

Im not talking something like Religion because clearly neither side of the argument can actually PROVE that they are right. But you get my point.

I want it to work both ways though, if I find you are being stubborn I want to be able to bring that up to you. If not, then only one of us here is putting themselves out there at all.

I'm sorry, I don't believe there's much arguing with a liberal, some anyway. It's more like, 'it's my way or the highway', if that doesn't work then the name calling starts.
Whatever you do, don't ask for explanations. Jeesh.
I say this because I have encountered such an "argument" here today.

You still aren't telling me what opinions I have to fix.
