Default Us Foreign Policy: Am I a bad person for being ok with economic violence?

I ran into this article that was posted on digg.

http://digg.com/political_opinion/To...ie_Hyprocrites

I have thought about it long and hard and I think I have to agree with this here. I really want to pick up a copy of that book the article talks about. Has anybody read it? Does it make me a bad person for wanting to stay global top dog?

I mean, I would rather go to war than be poor. Is there another option? Like that guy says, it beats the alternative.

Default That's the trick ...

That's the trick -- making you think that without war, we'll all be poor.

No.

Your prosperity, whatever it is, doesn't come from war. Oh, sure, the war is a part of our economy and part of our international leverage, but the reality is that the war is screwing most Americans over way more than it's helping them. It's helping a small minority of Americans out quite a bit, but that's not the same thing as saying that it helps out America or Americans.

The war in Iraq is hurting our economy. Our prosperity allows for the war, not the other way around. The war is a parasite that we need to eliminate from our system.

As long as there are finite resources there will always be war.
