Default It's The Economy Stupid! (part 2)

Reuters News Service reported that... "Consumer confidence fell for a third straight month in April, hitting its weakest in more than a quarter century on heightened worries over inflation and the sagging housing market, a survey showed on Friday."

So as we approach the general election in the fall, Republicans offer up a tired, elderly man as their candidate that has publically stated he doesn't know anything about the economy, but he's gone to Barnes & Noble and purchased Alan Greenspan's book. They think they have a winner with that one.

Imagine you're scared of flying, and while you're waiting at the gate the pilot makes this announcement, "I don't know anything about flying an airplane, but I did stop by the gift shop and pick up a manual on aeronautics."

That should make you feel much more secure don't you think?

None of the candidates make me feel secure about the economy. People can jump all over McCain's comment, but at least he was being honest about it. "Yes we can!", and "Change." do not create valuable sustainable jobs in the economy. Did you happen to catch Obama's retarded response related to the Capital Gains Tax? That was surely a real gem of someone who is in touch with the economy and middle-America.

I'm uneasy about McCain's thoughts on the war. While I don't think we should bail out of there like the other two, I think a decrease in presence should occur within a reasonable amount of time. We also need their relations to send a message to other countries in that area, as well as you guessed it, oil.

Hillary's Universal Healthcare makes me question just how in touch with reality the other side is with the economy. Furthermore, the socialist mindset that Obama seems to have beyond Hillary is even more disturbing, especially given his ideas on taxes. We don't need to subsidize the lazy any further than we have been doing for years. Please tell me what either of these two candidates would do to reduce the oil prices? That's right, absolutely nothing because this issue is not some temporary surge due to greedy investors. Welcome to the transition from oil to another energy source. It's going to be a rough ride and all you cry babies with your SUV's will have to suck it up.

The state of the economy is bad partly because of a war we probably should have never started, and due to factors that are quite frankly here to stay. Oil prices will not get any better, and people need to cope with that.

Maybe instead of getting on here and criticizing McCain for his projected fiscal policy maybe you should try reading the constitution and finding out exactly what role the president is supposed to play as far as the economy is concerned.

Ignorance can be fixed. Maybe you should start near Article 4 Section 4.

first. who has criticized mKKKain's in this thread?
next. which mKKKain fiscal policy would that be? the one where he opposed tax cuts for the rich or the one where he supports tax cuts for the rich?
finally. if ignorance can so easily be fixed why do you insist on displaying it?

Move along troll. You constantly litter these forums with irrelevant personal attacks and lack of substance. Maybe you should try reading before you post, especially the OP.

Ignorance can be fixed. Stupidity is forever.

Moreover I hope the mods wise up and give you the boot because thread after thread you prove how you wish to do nothing but bait people for arguments and offer nothing in the way of content. Don't bother quoting me or responding. I'm not interested in what you have to say and I'm not going to waste my time responding again..

I have a patient at work who likes to tease me and tell me that I am "Bush's girl." It makes me laugh and seems somewhat appropriate since I am only the person at work who will own up to the fact that I am a registered republican. He asked me today if I am a republican because I like helping the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I think my response was pretty (*)(*)(*)(*) good and think it would be salient here.

I do not think the system as we have it now works. There is a need for change. We as a country have at this time the mandate to look for alternatives to the same old same old. But I do not believe the way to improve the loves of all Americans is to tax the heck out of people because they make more money. I do not believe that the Democratic party has the solution to the ills of our economy because the only way they pay for anything is to increase your taxes. Right now, the super-rich pay over a third of all income taxes. Is that fair? And is that not the guiding principle of the Democratic Party? Fairness to all?

I believe the only way to improve the economy is to throw the whole system out and turn our markets into what they should be to make our country more advantageous to business and consumer alike. For the first time in its history, a piece of legislation is starting to gain some traction that would help encourage the growth of our market place and bring more money into the system. It's called the Fair Tax. It should be made into law and every person out there who believes that every American should have the right to decide about how much tax they pay and who is concerned about the economy needs to get on board and talk to your representatives about turning it into law.

If you haven't read the books, you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to the Fair Tax. So read it. And let's get serious about change.

The only candidate who so far has even entertained the notion of it is Huckabee and that's why he got my vote. But unfortunately, I cannot in good conscience put a socialist and/or communist in the White House. I'd rather have someone who is honest enough to say he doesn't know instead of trying to pacify me with mind numbing platitudes about change.

I like you a lot. Not only because your from Georgia but because you speak the truth. The fairtax would be a a huge change for the better for all Americans. But politicians will demogauge it to death and it'll probably never make it out of commitee, the problem is that it takes too much power away from politicians and we know how the parties on both sides of the isle feel about that.
