I have a question, are you trying to drive up your post count? You have posted like 10 times in this thread in 10 minutes! If I remember correctly you were on a big trip about being a mod! Is this a ploy to make that more likely?

Can you handle the fact that it wasn't it about American liberals? The similarities between that flawed European sentiment happens to relate to your true views, and that makes you uncomfortable because you cannot imagine that you are actually not perfect.

Honestly what are you talking about? The point of my response was that just because their are worse offenders in the world than america, doesn't excuse america from its offenses! I am very comfortable in my imperfection! You seem to be getting upset when all I am trying to do is have a civil debate! Relax and adress the fact of why the fact that Saddam is worse than george bush improves george bush. Just because their is something worse than a bad thing, doesn't make that bad thing good!

Excusing is not the goal. The point is, your focus should change, even if you still acknowledge the failings of Bush, you should go after the terrorists that we are after. Save your hatred of Bush for later. In fact, don't even waste your time. He is second-term now, and it is just useless. First Amendment, yeah, but it's not a toy.

Interesting post....
I think there are some good points made and others are overlooked. I agree that so many people around the world (and in this country) have a "blame America first" type of mentality. We take a lot of crap for things that are unfair and often times pointless. Our bad moves get maximized, our failures are never forgotten...but when we do good, or when we have successes they seem to get swept under the rug. People around the world are more than happy to talk about innocent lives lost in Iraq. However they always fail to mention that when it comes to charity that no other nation even comes close to giving a 3rd of what we give. We get criticized for being quick to rush to war with Iraq....and in the past we got criticized for being slow to go to war during WW2. Again we cant win. So yes....Alot of what the original poster said was true. Now with that said, and on the flip side....The single biggest annoyance I have with my fellow Americans is how friggin overly patriotic some people here are. If someone criticizes the U.S. then Americans blow up and act like the world is over. Americans act like nowhere else in the world is anywhere near as good as the U.S. when as a matter of fact there are 4-5 other nations where I wouldnt mind living at all, and I have lived outside this country. Each of the nations im thinking about...including the U.S. has its good and its bad attributes. Americans have a problem with any nation who wont agree to our every whim. I mean look at France, its actually a nice country with some really good ideas. But oh no!! I just complimented France and now im sure I actually offended some people with that statement lol. I prefer the United States over France overall, but France is actually on that list of 5 nations that I wouldnt mind living in. Mainly because of the awesome worker rights they have there. Americans seem to have this pride in NOT being a part of the rest of the world community. I think that is sad. We are all just human beings seperated by borders and oceans. I want to learn from other cultures and likewise have them learn from me. I love the exchange of ideas and feel that BOTH sides of any coin can be improved with that exchange. But you mention that sort of thing to most Americans and they act like you are a traitor lol. So yeah the original post was excellent but also missed the point that alot of Americans DO deserve alot of the hatred they get from outside nations because of their arrogance and ignorance. Still though we are a great nation, maybe the greatest nation in world history, and im proud to call myself an American. Both sets of my Grandparents are immigrants to this country from Ireland and my Mom was actually born there and I have alot of family that lives there, and I have actually lived there myself at one point......And all of us agree that while we love Ireland and will always go back there to visit for extended periods of time, however we wouldnt trade it for living in the United States.
