Default McCain Running On The Issues?

John McCain is already been challenged by the media for his serial flip-flopping on the issues of the day. Newsweek recently had a major story on that subject, citing repeated examples of McCain pandering to a crowd about his views, then only a few days later, before a different crowd, stating the opposite. The issues that are foremost in voters minds are extremely problematic for John McCain.

He's embraced the policies of the worst president in America's history. He supports positions only 19% of Americans approve of. Unlike the current president, McCain is at least possessive of average intelligence. He has to know he's running for the job of Captain of the Titanic, after it hit the iceberg, and he's of the opinion we should keep on steaming full speed ahead into the iceberg filled seas.

He has to take the positions he's stated so far. If not, even the Republicans won’t vote for him. Yet he can't get too aggressive in revealing his real positions or he'll get hammered in the general election. So he has to mumble and stumble, confuse and avoid much real discussion of his views and proposed polices.

The only strategy remaining is to do what Republicans love to do. They'll create false issues. They'll smear and demean. They'll lie, then lie about their lies. They'll throw America under the bus in a sleazy, slimy campaign. It's all they have left.

They'll do all those anti-American things and more. But they will be wearing their "made in China" lapel pins.

Here’s the link to the Newsweek story…

Here is my problem with this....

You are raising an interesting question that I thought would be worth looking in to, but then you show so much bias with everything else that is really only OPINION (even though I agree with alot of it) that it pretty much kills any interest I have in the McCain story.

The "Bush is the worst president in U.S. history" type of comments were unnecessary and just detract from the point you are making.

I think Bush has been one of, if not the worst president in U.S. history as well...But its kind of besides the point.

Because of comments like that I guarantee that this thread will end up turning into yet another conservative vs liberal debates instead of what the original topic was supposed to be about.

I was semi-optimistic about this election at the start. But McCain is one of the many letdowns.
He's turning out to be as much of a pandering politician as his criotics have always said.
Obama is becoming more and more just another politician.
Hillary has still not learned the mistakes of her campaign and continues to be uber-politician.

But that said, any one of these people will be better than GWB. It's not a hard act to follow.

Yes, McCain is running on issues, but whose issues? I honestly can't see much difference in the three, except that McCain is "socialist lite" IMO, the other two are ribald socialists.
As for beating up on Bush, I don't understand the purpose of that NOW, he isn't running again. Anything that he has done is done....& I might add, with the help & sometimes full co-operation of congress.

How is McCain a socialist??

This is something I dont understand about people on the far right and their feelings towards McCain.

Sure he leans to the left on SOME issues.....He most definitely has some Liberal in him.

But the guy is like 75% Conservative...Maybe even higher.

But heaven forbid the guy will vote his conscience (at least up until a year or so ago when the election began) and Conservatives get all pissy about it.

Whats funny is if you look at the definition of a "Socialist" then you know who fits that mold better than any President over the last 30 years except for Carter??

GEORGE W BUSH...........Because of his out of control spending and BIG...MASSIVE Government.

Bush has expanded welfare, done nothing about the border, spent more than any other president, created the department of homeland security, the patriot act, no child left behind and so many other big government programs....

And yet hardcore Conservatives love the guy. Im not going to speak for all of you, but honestly I feel that you love the guy because he is religious, is our president and commander in chief in a time of war, and likes to play up the "morals and values" types of issues.

But fiscally aside from the low taxes he spends like a Liberal and creates giant government programs like a liberal.

Just some food for thought anyways. As a former Libertarian that is what initially made me despise Bush was his out of control spending. Im ALL for low taxes, but you cant fight two wars, expand the size of government DRASTICALLY and still keep taxes low.
