Living near where you work in America means that you've got a five minute drive, which usually means 3 - 4 miles. The average person commutes 25 minutes a day, so that's about 20 miles.

I see. I can see the point in that, I mean, if I lived further from my workplace than I do, I'd be driving or catching the bus, because it's just too far to walk.
