I think most of us who are above the age of 12 remember all too clearly the Iran hostage crisis, when radical islamists from Iran took our citizens hostage and held them for serveral months. Those kinds of things are difficult to forget.

Beyond that, many of us realize that an unstable theocracy (whose religious beliefs reward suicide terrorism) is the LAST country on earth that should have access to nuclear weapons. I don't hate them, but I also would be willing to take almost any action against them that would keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of the Iranian government.

I mean, this ain't rocket science. We could turn Iran into a glassy parking lot if we wanted to right now, we have the weapons and technology to do so. But, I think most of us hawks would prefer not to. The problem is that the Iranian government is clearly antagonistic towards us, and we could never feel safe with these kinds of sophisticated weapons in their hands.

The cold war worked because the Russians, while we didn't like them, weren't crazy enough to destroy themselves. They didn't bomb us because to do so meant certain annihilation of their own people.

But, the theocratic mullahs who rule Iran, I think many of us have doubts as to their sanity. Would they allow their people to be utterly destroyed in order to attack the west for Allah? I think they might. The idea of nukes under their control frightens me a million times more than nukes in the hands of the Soviets did in the 80s.

A better question is why do liberals love Iran so much? read the post above and explain why any Americans should love that country!!!

It started with them taking our people hostage. I will never forgive them for that and failing to punish them seriously was a disastrous mistake. I would go so far to say that if we had punished them with massive bombings then, there would not have been a 9.11. The muslims saw weakness and it encouraged their stupid jihad.

But, most Americans wouldn't want war because of that now, if there was any sign iran could be peaceful and stop terrorism. But, they are a massive state sponsor of terror and responsible for the targeting and murder of numerous Americans over a period of decades now. And, they are escalating their hostilities, making verbal and overt military threats, are seeking nuclear weapons, state they want to will blow our friend Israel off the map, etc, etc.

I will be celebrating when the bombs finally start dropping on iran. I'll probably be out on the street here waving my American flag and pissing on a quran.

That being said, I don't have Iran more than, say, Cuba. An oligarchy is bad, but a dictatorship is much worse.

Iran stands out because of their desire for, and ability to obtain, nuclear weapons. Those things don't apply to Cuba (for example). So that is why Iran stands out, even though I hate the Cuban government more.

Why do conservatives hate Iran?

1. Theocracy. Frank Zappa said it best. "You can't run a country by a book or religion."
2. The Mullahs. They are out of touch with their own religion, and are oppressing their citizens, who for the most part, don't hate America as much as their leaders do.
3. Iraq. Iran not-so-secretly funds and equips the insurgents in Iraq.
4. Our allies. Ahmadingypants openly calls for the destruction of Israel, and is working towards that goal.
5. Nukes. If they get 'em...we'll get 'em...tip first.

Why do Conservatives hate Iran so much...

First of all, conservatives don't 'hate' Iran, more accurately, we don't 'trust' their actions. We don't trust them with a nuclear weapon and their leader is an idiot! Also, it's not so much that they would even consider launching a nuclear missile, we should be most worried about such idiotics attempting to smuggle/ship/drive or fly such devices into any western society. 911 changed everything about war. We won't be seeing armies fighting armies in the future, war has now sank to it's lowest level. This is the problem with Obama, he's been cuddled and pampered to much in life. He doesn't immediately recognize or understand the killing mentality of Iran enough to know, that even IF you were to sit down with these people you couldn't trust them if they swore on a stack of bibles to be good, just let us develop this one nuclear plant.
It may make a great press release but it really doesn't carry any water, does it. Also, we know they've killed American soldiers, which makes 'sitting down' with them very stupid!!

That happened nearly 29 years ago. Could it be that the Iranians had a memory of the US overthrowing their government only 26 years earlier? And our crime was far worse than their crime.
