And though everything else fails, he is there, and will not let them down."

- Though the crisis was economic in nature, the new national commander had promised to seek the "power to wage a war against the emergency, as great as the power that would be given to me if we were in fact invaded by a foreign foe . . .I assume unhesitatingly the leadership of this great army of our people dedicated to a disciplined attack upon our common problems. why is it the far right wing nuts, who imbibe from the trough of facist thought, who oppose independent thinking just as the facists, who oppose tolerance of independent views just as the fascists, who - just like the facists - identify those who are different than they as the reason for all of their problems, want so badly to appear not to be like the facists? there is only one way. understand what the fascists represent and do something different ... instead of mimicking their dogma

I think they should start with a history of populism followed by progressivism. Then they can go on to the war time policies of Wilson and FDR followed. Then they can learn about Fascism, Nazism, and Communism, followed by the actions of the New Left in the '60s. Maybe that will open their eyes.
