Wrong. We repeatedly warn people. You've been infracted only AFTER being warned about a behavior and then repeating it. People aren't banned on the first infraction.

And, if you dispute an infraction, you can ask other moderators to look into it.

In your case, i think that you will find, upon reading over the thread, that I could have infracted you several times, and I gave you multiple warnings, on the thread and elsewhere.

With PI, he received at least 3 temporary bannings before he was permanently banned. And, he was only banned permanently when it was clear that he had no intention of following the forum's rules.

It's true that it's up to the mods, not the user, to determine what violates board rules and what doesn't. But any violations are explained to the user. And....

.... users get *very* long leashes. No one who gets banned has any excuse for being surprised by it. Bannings are preceded by lots of warnings, infractions and other communications from mods -- including warnings that a permanent ban is coming up.

This is true -- we're human, we miss stuff, and we can disagree on what constitutes an insult. But on a post-by-post basis, you have no way of knowing if someone else's post drew an infraction unless we overtly edit the post. Don't assume you're the only person getting infractions or warnings.

As long as the quotes didn't violate forum rules and weren't misquotes of what I actually said, I wouldn't care. And, my quotes generally don't violate forum rules.

Case and point. I got an infraction and changed my behvaviour, therefore I am still here. I'm sure Publius got the same response I did when I upset the mods, but he ignored it, thus he got banned.

If you quoted a post of mine that violated forum rules, a mod would contact you and ask you to remove the signature.

How am I misusing his words? I've quoted him directly, in entirety, without attempting to play games with his words. He actually made these comments, as they stand. And, I've linked back to his posts so that people can confirm that I have indeed accurately quoted them. So, how is quoting them a "misuse"? Can you define misuse, as you see it?

Why would Sunni be humiliated by these posts? He said these things. On a public forum. Does Sunni not recognize that when you make comments on a public forum that your words then become public?
I don't know where you've posted in the past, but it is not a "misuse" of someone's post to quote them on this forum. So, I am telling you that if you make a comment on this forum, you may see your words quoted back to you.
