I used to post at the old Howard Dean forum, where "sheeple" was the buzzphrase de jour. Dozens of people used this phrase, and all applauded each other whenever they said the exact same thing as each other. They were grossly intolerant of any opinion that diverged one iota from theirs, all referenced counterpunch as their one, true gospel, and operated in complete unison.

If there is one object lesson in any of this, it would be to make sure that whenever one references "sheeple" to make sure one isn't speaking in "baaaaaah".

That's the thing.

Even when you are proclaiming to not be a sheep, you are sheep to the anti-sheep. Kind of like the hippies that said they weren't conformists but were comforming to the hippy culture.

So it's hard to continue looking a way in the elevator different from where other people are looking? Big deal. It's awkward.
I don't see what's so sheepish about discontinuing a meaningless behavior because it's awkward. It's a pretty rational decision.

I just thought it was interesting philosophically.

Of course most are "sheeple." The Elite have infanticized the People to the point where they rely on the government for everything and have been conditioned to believe that different is "bad" and should be ostracized. If everyone is the same and looks down upon those who are different, then any notion of rebellion or actual change is spurned. This way the Elite can keep and fortify their power.

I must say that if I were in an elevator and a bunch of people entered, all looking like they were straight out of 1962 and indulging in obviously coordinated actions, I might freak out just a wee bit.
