The term black is politically advantageous because you cannot find a better polarizing characterization than to call opposing groups black and white! This has served the so called "civil rights leaders" well in their quest to keep racial tension as high as possible. Their jobs depend on their being a great deal of racial tension and unrest!

The term African American is stupid. As it was pointed out earlier the black person in question may not be American. The correct term is black. If they don't like it then we shall go back to the proper term Negro which describes the specific race.

How so?
There are more whites than blacks. If it's that polarizing, it would work to the disadvantage of blacks.

Not in the era of white guilt and political posturing by certain politicains! As long as they can play the victim, "held down by the man" they can lobby for and receive benefits based on the notion that their race is disadvantaged simply by being black.
