Because "black" is more descriptive and therefore more useful if your goal is to categorize people by race. Germans, Irish, and Dutch are all the same race.

Lots of people born in Africa are not black. Been to a Dave Matthews concert lately? He is literally an African American.



Because the term was used by you people before you were deposed into obscurity. And so is permanently polluted through your use.

See the difference is most whites can track down their origins in the world, but Black folks have been basterdized from theirs.

See Black folks couldn't keep a dairy of the family tree to pass on from generation to generation to generation.

Once we were brought here we were robbed of our language, robbed of our names, we lost our religion, our culture, our God and some of us by the way we act we even lost our minds.
