75% Top marginal Tax Rate, so what if they had to fire all their employees and we ended up with 14% unemployment.
Practically unlimited Government Largess, so what if we ended up with Welfare Queens.
Protectionist trade Policies, so what if we ended up with 12% Inflation.
Regulated Phone and Airline Industries, so what if we had to pay 25cents per min. for Landline phone calls and $400.00 one way for Airfare. (Even if we booked early)

This raises an interesting point, and it's on topic since we're discussing the differences between liberals and conservatives.

Has anyone noticed that whenever there is a poorly spelled or improperly punctuated post on this and other fora... that post generally is created by a conservative?

Does this indicate:

a. An intelligence gap?

b. A "who cares?" attitude on the part of conservatives about proper grammar and punctuation? (i.e., "I ain't writing a book... it's just an internet post.")? Or,

3. An active anti-intellectual mindset with an accompanying disdain for standardized rules of grammar, much the same as their feelings regarding most of the Constitution, save the Second Amendment ("that's the GOOD one!")?

Actually, I think it's called Jealousy. It's kind of like when my neighbors find out that my income is double theirs and yet they have a college degree and I don't. Or when they see that I run a Computer Networking Company, even though I don't have a degree. Or when they see that I was able to afford to put 2 of my kids through college without loans. It just pisses them off.
They think, who the hell does this guy think he is, with his opinions and websites, and Companies. I have a college Degree, I should be better than him. He didn't even finish High school, yet he types almost 80WPM. WTF is that all about.

The better equation:

Republicans or Democrats leading this country = Pessimism for a libertarian.

As Ronald Reagan was said, "True Conservative Principles have their roots in Libertarianism".

Unfortunately, even if a Libertarian were to win the presidency, both the Republicans and the Democrats would seek to destroy it. They would have everything to lose if this took hold.

The only way Libertarianism could EVER works would be at a grassroots effort to fill first Congress then the Senate with Libertarian candidates, then once they would have sufficient numbers, (I would say bare minimum 25 to 33% of at least one house), only then would they be able to successfully launch a Presidential Campaign AND have a president that could ACTUALLY get something done.
