This isn't subject to spin. This is immune from the "out of context" defense. This isn't opinion expressed by opponents. This is the actual appearance of the man claiming to be a "straight talker". This is John McCain's own words, in videos showing him making these statements. This is John McCain flip-flopping on issue after issue. This is John McCain willing to pander to any group, take any position, then change it for the next appearance.
This serial flip-flopping, reveals a man we can't even trust to state his true beliefs. That's hardly a bridge to building trust and confidence with the American voters. It's not a candidate with a backbone, it's just John McCain being a shapeless jellyfish. That's hardly an attribute for a man that wants to be Commander in Chief. It's hardly an attribute for a president that needs to be consistent and trustworthy to our allies. It's hardly a confidence builder with American voters and it only worsens daily. |

On the tax thing. He's generally for tax cuts. He didn't like Bush's tax cuts in particular because of the timing with the Iraq war and their regressiveness.
However not wanting to do something in the first place is different from wanting to end it after some time has passed and the system has adapted to it, which is his claim on that issue. And that's fair enough. Though he should know to express that well and maybe often come August and September. Most worrying however is the Al Queda in Iran thing. Just the once it could easily have been a trivial slip of the tongue. But he'd done it on a radio talk show earlier. Which just makes me very nervous. Honstly I wish at one of the debates instead of letting them just state their opinions they'd just ambush them with a big fat foreign policy quiz. Connect the face with the leader. Answer questions about the different foreign issues. Maybe make them multiple choice or fill in the blank to avoid spin and let them score them on the air. It could be fun for the audience at home. They could give them those podiums like they have on Jeapordy so we'd see them writing in their answers as they go. |

"I guess we get to choose between someone who has been around long enough to see both sides of an issue, or someone who doesn't even know which zip code the issue is in (Obama)."
Uh, there's kind of a difference between seeing both sides of an issue, than someome that takes both sides of an issue. (McCain) "Seems easy to me!" Well, *I think it's more complicated than you do.*<<<MOD Edit Last edited by Metrophobe; 06-17-2008 at 09:53 PM. Reason: Personal Attack. This is a simple concept. Do not attack other users. |

Has there ever been a politician in the history of the world who was trustworthy?
